Tejon Sensitivity

How many of you Tejon owners run the sensitivity past 10 into the red and put up with the chatter in order to get more depth?

I do here because I am usually away from a lot of the big city enviroments. It seems a lot of people don't like the Tejon too much because of it's very high gain electronics which will be a bit noisy. It doesn't bother me because I know it will be able to sense the deeper targets. The small 575 widescan coil is a nice addition to the Tejon too. Tesoro makes a great line of detectors.

I use a Tejon in the city. I have never had the problems that I read about all the time. I run sensitivity right on the edge of the red all the time. The Tejon with the 5.75" coil is a formidable tool in ultra high trashy areas. I find the boulevards around old schools to be THE spot to find old coins in school yards. The trash is the thickest, and there are generally power lines overhead, The Tejon works like a champ.

I run mine usually on 10 in cleaner spots . It seems a slightly positive ground balance give a fuzz more depth but you have to keep the coil close to the ground.

Out in the woods, I'll run the sens as high as I can. In the city area if any interference affects the machine, I might tone it down just a bit still running high as possible keeping it stable. The 5.75 coil works wonderfully swell
The Tejon is one of my top relic machines that can do me a fine job coin/jewelery in the city.

REAL CLEAN AREAS I CAN RUN MINE A BIT HIGHER THAN 10, BUT IT GETS VERY NOISY WHEN I SET IT DOWN TO DIG.

I normally hunt with mine just below the "chatter" level, on my machine that is usually right on "10". But you can still hunt with it all the way up. Here is a tip for you guys. When you get those really deep, "iffy" signals, sounds sort of good but not sort of good? Short term, crank that sens all they way and it will give you a bit more information on that weak target. Do this only while pinpointing and remember to turn it back down before you set your machine down to dig, because it will really chatter when the coil is not moving. As long as the coil is moving you get away with having the sens higher, I guess the matrix helps stabilize the machine. This little trick may help you get a better ID on that borderline target.

I used that tip yesterday and it works.
Thanks,
Scully
