Tejon or Cortes ?

Woodstock

New member
Hi everyone,
I just feel back in love with Tesoros again. I just traded my other brand machine for a Tejon and and added a 5 3/4 Wide scan to my arsenal and I couldn't be much happier with both coils the things a beast. But it got me thinking, the reason why I traded was weight and the fact that I really hardly ever check a display. I listen, decide, then dig. I've had tons of other brands and I find the displays inaccurate and confusing.
I used to have a Deleon and that display was better than most but had an offer I couldn't refuse and traded it in before I really got the chance to use it much. But I've been reading about the Cortes and it looks like it could be the what I've been searching for. So I'm asking those who know here on the forum this. "Is it really a good mix between analogue and digital?" And " Can I expect to dig deep stuff like deep coins with the Cortes like I can with my Tejon?" I like the idea of to read a simple display is some cases even though I mostly listen. So is the display on a Cortes easier to use cause with me some info is good but to much is a headache.
Depending on what I hear from you, my trusted Tesoro friends will help me decide if I want to trade my Tejon for a Cortes. Happy Trails, Woodstock

I had a Cortes and the meter was really jumpy in a trashy area. Made it hard to try to figure out what was under the coil. Same with the Deleon I had, and the Omega and Minelab Ex-terra. It pretty well convinced me digital meters suck in most areas. I now have a Vaquero and am much happier with it than any of the metered detectors I had before it. The only metered detector I own now is a Fisher CZ5 and I love it and have no problems with an analog meter.

The Cortes has a very small and hard to see meter. It needs tones in the disc mode instead of having to use the SUM mode to get the tones. In my opinion you have a much deeper detector now and would only be trading down plus your small coil won't work on the Cortes.
It might sound as though I didn't like the Cortes, but I did like it. Just didn't care for the tiny meter and ID bouncing all around. Some may not agree with me about the Cortes, but this is my experience with it. HH...........

Thanks! I was thinking the same about it. Tone ID would be a plus on the Cortes. What I like about the Tejon is it's the deepest machine I have ever used. I 'll listen to everyone who will post no matter what. I'm sticken to my Tejon for now. Happy 4th ! Woodstock

Anyone else can add their opinion too. I'd like a depth opinion as well as the others. I coin shoot and the Tejon excells in that I know. What about the Cortes? Has anyone compaired depth between the two? How is the Cortes on picking up those on edge? Anything on that? Let me know what you know. Happy 4th, Woodstock
