Tejon on the beach???

Has anyone done a lot of detecting on the beach with a Tejon?? If so is it noisy and can it detect in wet sand? Can it detect in the black sand? Just wondering..Z

Z....reports I read state that on the dry sand its very good but in the wet sand it is very chattery. You can probably run the sensitivity lower and up the discrimination, but I am not sure how much depth you will lose.

I am thinking of getting either a T or V for the dry sand. I want a nice, light unit and hunting the dry with my CZ or Excal is more hard work than I want. Also looking into the Cibola and Golden too for this type of hunting along with tot lot hunting.

I think any of those units with a small coil would be a great set up to hunt where beach goers lay during the day. A nice early evening hunt after the crowd leaves may be very rewarding.

Problem I have is it costs me about $15-20 in gas to get to the beach and back !

JC thanks for reply. I am now using a XLT on the beaches. It is the only one of the 4 detectors that I have used that works on all the beaches and the whole beach is detectable using it. I am thinking it is kind of time to change again. I have a DeLeon but it doesn't work on the whole beach. I detect mostly on beaches and do about 6 beaches some times more during the summer. I have 4 beaches very close to me. I seem to like the Tesoro because it is so reliable and light. I am also looking at the F70. I am just looking right now and sending out feelers. My first three detectors where the wrong ones for what I wanted to do with them. It was costly but a growing experience. Thanks again for reading...Jer
