Tejon handle grip replacement?

88junior

Well-known member
Has anyone ever replaced their hand grip? Mine is worn pretty good and needs replaced. If you guys have any ideas let me know thanks!

I haven't, but I read on a forum, that someone was using Neoprene material. Same stuff that they use to make scuba wet suits.

I waited till winter and sent my DeLeon to Tesoro and they replaced it my battery boxes and gave my DeLeon a tune up all without asking

I used a piece of pipe insulation, held on with electrical tape...cheap, easy and comfortable. (FAR more than the stock grip)
Have heard of people using padded bike handlebar grips.

Guys I know where to get them I need insight on how to put it on there with the fixed battery holder and the toogle switch under the control housing.

Replaced mine with a bicycle handle grip,(they come in pairs,so you'll have a spare)
To remove the old and install the new;spray with hair spray, comes off easy and goes on easy.
Hair spray dissipates and there you go!
Good luck

If the battery box it truly fixed you have little choice in the matter.

The control box and toggle switch were installed when they assembled the unit, that means they can be uninstalled.

I don't have one of those units here to look at, but remember, at one point that was just a tube.

I doubt you would be satisfied with cutting the new grip with a razor blade and installing it with contact cement.

Once you have handled the access problem................

First remove any and all adhesive, dirt, dust, whatever.

Use lighter fluid, acetone, whatever, just make sure the upper is as clean as possible from the end to just above where the replacement handle will be positioned.

Next buy, borrow, or steal a can of old school hairspray, "Aqua Net"...like that.

Secure the upper in a padded vice of get a buddy to help you.

Spray plenty of hair spray on the tube from the end to just above the position where the new grip will be.

Give a spray into the grip and work fast .... slip the grip into position and let it sit for a few minutes.

Wipe away the excess hair spray with alcohol, and you're done.

2nd Method

Make up a solution of soapy water using a good quality dish soap, make it a bit on the rich side so that it feels slippery between your fingers.

Secure the tube as above.

Slop the soapy water from the end to just above where the grip will at home.

Paint the inside of the grip with the solution using a paper towel wrapped around a chop stick or something similar.

Slide the grip into position and let it sit for a few hours.

Clean up the excess with a wash cloth and warm water.
