Tejon gives good start to the year

It warmed up enough to thaw some of the tot lots. I hit three that I had not hunted in a while.

Cleansweep coil is one of my favorites for tot lots. Took it out on the Tejon, set with first disc halfway between iron and foil and the second disc so that the soda can tabs start to crackle then go away after about 3 sweeps, but nickles disappear as soon as the trigger is pulled for the second disc. Sensitivity nearly maxed, but set to 6 working near the poles.

Total in clad coins for about 3.5 hours of hunting was good for me at $4.71. Also got some fun things: a little heart, a starfish, a souvenir piece of 8 and a little ring. The ring was about 4 inches from a pole and about 3 inches deep. Smooth beep on the first disc that went away as soon as the trigger was pulled for the second disc. Came out of the chips looking clean and even in color. There was something about the ring that said "get out the test kit". It is a size 6.5 with no markings. It tested positive for gold at 10K.

Small ring, it weighs 0.9 gram. So full melt value based on Friday's gold price is $17.14.

I count it as a good start to the year!
Cheers,
