Tejon & Eldorado umax

does the sensitivity adjustment apply to both the disc and AM modes on the Tejon also is the GB applicable in both the AM and disc modes or is either a preset ?

does the sensitivity adjustment apply to both the disc and AM modes on the Eldorado umax ?

thanks

[size=large]The Sensitivity control is principally a function with the Discriminate mode circuitry and serves as a pre-amp gain control. It is often mistaken as an All Metal mode feature to regulate the transmit power, which is incorrect. This is usually only found on gold nugget based models.

does that mean that the quote below is correct Monte ? this is a quote that I came across while reading some older post's , I have posted the question and had 2 resoponses saying it is correct but would appeaciate your input

Sensitivity control. What this control really does is
enable one to adjust the "Gain", or amplification of a signal from
the receiver coil to your headphones or speaker, which improves
the detection of targets, especially those "deeper beepers". It does
NOT mean that the transmitter EM field is being driven deeper into
the ground though, as again, it's only a signal amplifier. All Sensitivity
controls on detectors work this way.

thankyou

[size=large]It was ALMOST correct, but not quite.

It should have stated Most Sensitivity controls function this way. And the statement ought to clarify that MOST detectors in use today have a "Gain" or "Sensitivity" control that is only tied in with the motion Discriminate mode. Those do function like the quote explains since they are basically a PRE-amplification control with the received signal. Those models have a fixed Sensitivity, by design, in the circuitry for the All Metal/Pinpoint mode.

SOME detectors, however, do have a variable Sensitivity or Gain control that is a function of the All Metal mode as well. These are primarily found on models designed to be used in All Metal especially for hunting gold nuggets, etc. This allows you to reduce the gain and better handle the ground environment.

Does this mean that for MOST machines, it is not necessary to adjust the SENS at all if you are in ALL METAL mode? In other words that depth will be the same in all metal regardless of sensitivity settings?
Interesting, I just haven't heard this before.

BTW---uMax Eldorado is a great machine!

(I know with the Coinstrike this doesn't apply as it has a different THRESH and SENS setting.)

thankyou Monte I always appreciate your advice & wisdom

Hi wayne , yes I belive thats exactly what Monte is saying

[size=large]Basically correct, but there are no absolutes. Often we see very slight affects from some control adjustment, such as the Sensitivity on most Tesoro's when hunting in All Metal it's usually only noted when adjusting from Maximum to Minimum, and then usually just a hint of change. An example of there not being an absolute in all cases would be with Tesoro's Conquistador (not the
