Tejon coils

D&P-OR

Well-known member
Got to thinking a bit about (larger widescan) coils on the Tejon.---My ground is pretty mineralized here in OR where I hunt (need DD coils).----Anybody used the 8.5" widescan on their Tejon?----Does it work well on the Tejon---whattcha think??---Not interested in the 12X10 and I have the 5.75 (widescan).----Can anybody offer up any input (pros & cons) about the 8.5" on the Tejon?--------Del

The 8.5" widescan is basically the same coil that you already have with the 5.75" coil except larger .....The smaller the coil, the better the target seperation, so actually you are ahead of the game with the 5.75" in that dept ..... You might gain a small amount of depth with the 8.5" but you will loose on the target seperation ... It is closer in size to the stock coil , however you should do better with it since it's a DD coil in the highly mineralized soil that you are dealing with .... Is the stock coil not working well ? ..... Can you try a few more adjustments using the stock coil ? .... To me , the 8.5" widescan is too close in size that I would not want to spend the extra money , UNLESS and that's a BIG UNLESS , it was head and shoulders better than the stock coil .... Sorry I'm not giving you the facts that you need as I don't own the coil nor the Tejon ....Mearly thinking out loud if I were in this situation .....Jim

My choise is 5x10 wide scan elliptical. I use it about 60% of time. Then the 5.75 about 30%, and stock coil about 10% on sandy beaches. I had the Lobo ST. for about 5 years and got use to 5x10. It's a
little nose heavy. It works for me.
