Tejon and vaquero book

I looked to buy this book in paper back and found out it only comes in Kindle form and the like. Where can I get a paperback version? Thanks

Not sure if you can. I got it on my woman's kindle and it is informative and worth reading a few times. Try a book store. If it is available, they should be able to get a copy for you. Probably cost a lot more though. Can download the kindle app on your computer for free and get it that way if you do not have a kindle. Never have heard anyone having a printed version of it. Good luck and if you do get a printed copy, do let us know.

You can also read it with a browser. Firefox has an add-on you can use. That's what I did. Works great, and the book is definitely worth the time.

I just got it with the app for free to read on my I Pad. It's a great read so far and super informative.I totally agree with the authors take on the Tesoro Tejon & Vaquero. A must read if you own one of these detectors or any Tesoro unit for that matter. I love Tesoro detectors and feel they will hunt as well or better still today as any modern digital unit and this book goes into some of that detail and why and confirms my beliefs all along on this subject. I just wish more Tesoro detectors had the manual ground balance option like the Tejon,Vaquero, Outlaw detectors a must for me

Several of the older models did have adjustable GB, my favorites being the Bandido II microMAX and the last Eldorado. Last Eldorado is similar to Vaquero (V replaced it), but with a wider disc range and more convienient toggle switch for disc/all metal modes. It also has an audio tone I like better than the Vaquero's standard tone.

If I could make minor improvements to Vaquero, it would be to: make the disc and iron rejection work as well as the Bandido's, add the mode toggle and ED180 from Eldorado, use the disc pot from Cibola (disc only, no mode switch), and give it the high tone that's currently an option. THAT would make my perfect "Vaquero II"... ^_^

sounds good to me maybe if I put them in a partial accelerator I could get that done

not sure I need a book though.

Forgot I had the book on Kindle, started rereading it again last night. The value of my Tejon just went up.

While reading I started thinking that maybe it would be worth a try to pull the batteries out of my meter machine and hunt the rest of the year with the Tejon. I keep a running log of my hunts so it could be interesting to see if good finds go up or down.

Maybe as the book says I have become meter dependent, I know when hunting with it I can't help but look at the meter. Just maybe better isn't really better.

I think that the advantage of the meter, is that if accurate, it lets you run a lower disc setting. Just look at the meter to see what you have...
A detector with an accurate and consistent disc though, is capabe of finding just as many targets. With the Tejon's depth and dual disc circuits, maybe even more. I too, need to use my Tejon more.

Pinenut,

Can't really say anything bad about a meter machine, I have been using one lots of years. But I cut my teeth on beep and dig and I did pretty good with them as well. I was thinking being I have hunted most of the summer with my F75 if I was to do a complete switch and run the Tejon the rest of the hunting season, if I would see any difference in my finds. Now what is even more interesting is I have no new sites to hunt so I will be hunting over where the F75 has hunted along with my brothers one running a F5 and the the other a F70. So I shouldn't find anything cleaned by the metered machines.

I am am better than 60% complete on reading this book, but I have only a few notes on how to get target depth and GB. So for me it is a OK read but I am not getting a lot of new information out of it. It has improved my over all thoughts on how good a machine the Tejon is.

If I can get my wife back on her feet after knee replacement, I am kind of excited to get it out and go over some of these sites and see if I can turn up some more silver.

That is true my friend. But on there current line of detectors only the Tejon,Vaguero and the Outlaw have the manuel GB. The Lobo has the auto track in the all metal mode and the rest of there detector models are a fixed GB. I am sure that you already know that though you seem to know your Tesoros.

I finished the book, lost night, and the biggest thing I got out of it was more confidence in the ability of the Tejon.

I took the time to pull the disc knobs and reset both of them to just start to disc out a nickel when the pointers are lined up at the 5 Cent lettering on the face of the machine.

I have got couple of sled runs in the park that still have most of their 75 years of gold still in the ground, but they are full of pull tabs that need to be cleaned out.

I think that's half the battle with most things is confidence and we get that how we can  if a book helps then why not read it, like if we hear time and time we are no good we start believing it and if we hear we are great and are going to find good stuff we believe that too, like most of life its lived between the ears and what we hears

Amberjack, the book is well written and focuses on two models of Tesoro, getting into good detail. None of us need to read it, but owning both of those Tesoros (in my case) sure made me want to, and I did learn a few things about using these models. While I'd rather have in paperback than an electronic file, I'm glad to have bought and read it.
