Tejon and battery consumption

akille68

Member
Hello,
I've read somewhere that Tejon is an energy eater, and needs batteries change after only two hunting sessions...
Is it true? I mean...Do You know if it has an internal voltage regulator as other detectors?
....and what about beeps when it's turned on? Even if these beeps are on full You have to change batteries?
Please let me know.
Best regards,

Not sure where you are getting your info from but the Tejon will easily give you 40 plus hours on regular akaline batteries, even more if you use the Pansonic Oxyrides. When you turn the Tejon on, the beeps you hear are a measure of your battery power. With fresh batteries you should 8 or 9 beeps and as the power fades you will hear less and less beeps. I usually put new batteries in mine at 3 beeps. Voltage is regulated so you dont have to worry.

Never timed mine, but I usually hunt 10-15 hours a week, and change them about every 3 weeks, They are definitely not battery eaters. I use Duracell alkaline.

I am also using Duracell alkaline. Have about 20 hours of on time plus about 2 months on the shelf since this set of batteries was new. Yesterday it finished after a short hunt with 5 beeps on the battery check; so still more life in them.

I will agree with the rest, the TEJON is one of the best machines as for battery consumption.
I have a set of duracells in it for the past 5-6 hunts I lost track and at 3 - 4 hrs each hunt and i can still get 4 beeps .

While I can't speak for all the Tesoro models, I've yet to run into one that was hard on batteries -- at least in the umax series and newer. Actually, I haven't heard or read of any complaints as to battery life on any detectors manufactured since the late 1990s. I have seen references to some of the earlier other brands as being battery hogs. My two bits.

If there is any corrosion or dirt on any of the battery leads, it can radically affect power. Check the clips, and all the terminals on the battery holders. That could be your culprit.
