Tech question

Does the coil design have anything to do with discrimination, or is the discrimination handled entirely by the control on the detector? I understand the send and receive signal, but some detectors offer an all metal mode which of course eliminates discrimination, but then that mode at the switch or control can be switched to discrimination. Could a coil designed for an all metal detector, without discrimination, if the khz were the same, be used on a discriminating detector of the same khz and be able to discriminate? Thanks

Should have posted my question on the Tech/Modification area but I didn't realize it was there until I came back to check replies. Sorry.

The discrimination is controled by phase shifting in the machine.
