I've only seen one wolf in my life and that was while at Yellowstone. Pretty big animal. I see what my daughters 100 pound Shepard can do so I sure would not want a pack of or even one wolf after me that's main function is to kill something for dinner. Even the smaller coyote's here do a number on the young deer on the snow. Getting worst as no one seems to be hunting them and their numbers are increasing fast. Less around this property, but in general growing. Sit out on my back porch at night sometimes and it will make your hair stand up straight at times, so many of them yelping or calling out to each other. Hmmmm, I need to see if the camera audio would pick that up next time they do that and see if I can post it....

On occasion, they are starting to hunt in packs and will pull down a large calf. We are also starting to see more Coy Dogs which are the off spring of a coyote and dog. A Coy Dog can weigh up to sixty to seventy pounds, not something to take lightly or ignore. We do not have wolves that I know of down here in South Texas. Years ago I hear tell that we had some red wolves, which are much smaller than the wolves in Canada or Alaska. They have been gone from this area 75 to 100 years. Kelley (Texas) :)
