TDI THRESHOLD ADJUSTMENT ???:rage:

When I set the threshold with the ground balance toggle ON, I find that there is always some CHATTER to some degree, is this normal? No matter how high I turn up the threshold there is some chatter with the GB toggle on.
When I turn the GB toggle OFF I get a nice pure sound with no chatter, is this pure tone what I should expect when the GB toggle is on?
Also, should the coil be on the ground or above the ground? when setting the threshold, or doe's it not matter?
Good hunting all.

Your not going to have a smooth threshold like you do with a VLF machine. Lower your gain and adjust your frequency. Also, GB with your coil at the height that you swing at (ususally about an 1" off the ground).

Cheers Guys, Thanks for your answers. I have directed my question to the PI forum. Interestingly, I am yet to achieve a result from adjusting the frequency. I have done trials near an electric fence and under some high voltage power wires and can not hear any difference.
Good hunting.

Hi Earthsea
Google Whites TDI forum the guys that hang out over there know this machine inside and out. That's where I learned about my TDI when I first got it.

If you have your conductivity set to "all" you will hear the hi/lo tone warbling. Reducing your gain can help, also selecting high or low conductor exclusively will stabilize the sound. If you hear an oscillation in the threshold, then frequency adjust can help that disappear.
Have fun.

I will tell you it is normal for the threshold to be chaty with ground balance on that is the way of the PI machines. Mine does the same thing. It just takes a while to geet used to.
