Taught my yellow Lab something bad!

My lab has always been a great dog, even when i get on to him he will lay down by my side faithfully!
He also thinks every time i eat something,he needs some too,my fault again,LOL.
Recently while checking my tomatoes for bad ones in the house,my lab is sitting watching me.
i find some bad spots on two or three cherry tomatoes!
I toss one to my lab to see if he will eat it.
He catches it,chews it up,and swallows it and looks at me,so i give him the other two!
Now,I have a few old cooler chests that are turned upside down outside by the garden, I put almost ripe tomatoes on them to finish ripening, while out picking okra i look and there is my lab snatching a tomato off the top of one of the coolers!
Chews it up and swallows it.
I holler at him and he stops, Okra now picked so i am picking a few cherry tomatoes and look on the other side and my lab is picking his own,Red ones, off the vine!
I get on to him again!
So now i no longer ripen tomatoes on the coolers, and keep an eye on him when i am picking the tomatoes!
He is well mannered and will go back to the front of the house if i am in the garden and point back that way.
Anyway,it is one of those things that are funny and not funny at the same time! LOL

.... Nicki would run after and try to bring back the vine rotted / damaged tomatoes dad threw into the adjoining field.

One day she decided to chew on a tomato and must have liked it. We'd laugh at her when she would all by herself, trot down to the garden, slowly check out the tomatoes growing on the vines and select one that was not damaged, ripe ready for picking, and just big enough to fit into her mouth. She would gently take it between her teeth and twist it back and forth until it came off the vine. She would bring it to the porch, lay down and eat it. She only picked what she could eat ... generally just one every other day or so.

We lived in a small rural residential neighborhood out in the middle of rolling hills, woods and farm country in central PA. Me and my buddys might be a mile or more away from the house, fishing or swimming in a pond or stream or hunting "big game" with our BB guns in the woods. When it was time for me to come home, my mom would attach a note to Nicki's collar and tell her to go find "Eddie". Nicki would somehow always find me and I'd see the note telling me to come home. She was such a great dog and would follow me everywhere unless she was kept in the house when I left to go play or go to school.

Yes,I know i started it,and i will continue to share with him since he likes them! LOL

I have tot them to have no interest in anything else.
Anywho, anything that i touch, she will go back and eat it when i'm not around..
And i mean ANYTHING, animal , mineral or vegetable.
When she first startesd this i was workin on a mower in the grage.
She stole tools and parts(only the ones i touched).
She would sit there and jist wait for me to look away and she'd grab and run.
I had to 'claim' things fer a while till she got the message.
She still today tho will grab and chew anything that i touch if i'm not vigilant 'bout keepin it from here.
(Mmm..maybe i did inadvertantly teach her this by playin stick toss)

On yer maters.......they will ripen better, much slower even, if put into a paper bag and put in a dark cool place.
Also, old Labby boy won't be tempted by 'em.

Must have somethin to do with that red or yellow triggers appetite thingy

It kills people too.......lethal injection for the death penalty is potassium.

I wouldn't think two or three cherry tomatoes would hurt a full size lab!!

Don't know, but i have eaten like four or five of those big Beef steak ones
just sliced up and drownded with salt and pepper.
Makes your mouth water don't it?
Maybe should experiment with the next person to get lethal injection.
No no shots, were gonna see how many Maters he can eat before it makes him croak.
