Targets sounding "clipped"?

ZincolnDigr

New member
It seems like when I detect fairly shallow targets (3" or less) the target response sounds like it is being clipped out in mid alert. Anyone else notice this? It really annoys me.

Thanks!

You might check to see if high trash is on? That can cause a clip in the sounds of signals.

Meant to say see if deep is on for your recovery as it can affect your sound of your signal.

What I have found on the above stated sound..... What was the target after digging? When I get that sound/clipped out signal it can mean alot of things. Object not round in shape, picking up end of a nail, large iron target, nulled out object close to good target, etc... Does not seem to be at any particular depth or at least I have not noticed.

I was at a fairly modern park doing a bit of cladding. These were modern quarters no more than 3" in depth. Only 1, that was basically on the surface gave out an "unclipped" sound. The detector does not do it in air testing, only during an actual hunt. Thanks for the assistance so far guys. I appreciate any and all help!

I noticed something similar when I first started hunting with the E-Trac after using all the other Explorers. I found it kind of annoying, but I figured it was just the faster processor in the E-Trac. Now I'm used to it, No problem anymore.

Tom,

Thanks. That could be it. I guess it does not bother other folks as much as it does me? I'm sure I will get use to it.
