target trace what i learned

So your detecting along and get a 12.44 move to center target it reads junk.False you think not so fast go back where you hit the 12.44 this coin is hitting on the leading edge of the coil as you move forward to center the coin becomes junk. But if you go back and hit the 12.44 and hold pinpoint with target trace you well see the 12.44 fill the cursor at the dime spot as you move forward the iron cursor also fills now you have 2 cursors filled 1 iron 1 at 12.44 . This means you were drawn to the lets say bottle cap being the iron and said dime is 2 inches away .Now your 6 inches off of the original hit making you think false but you have the 2 cursors filled. So go back to where you hit the 12.44 with the tip of the coil and engage pinpoint target trace and center the target with the leading edge of the coil and dig. To verify put a bottle cap 2 inches away from a dime with the leading edge of the coil hit the dime 12.44 as you center the hit the bottle cap pulls you away from the dime and the target trace splatters not showing the dime another words a junk signal from all ways. But with pinpoint target trace engaged and holding the button in all the time as you hit your 12.44 the dime cursor well fill as you move forward to center still holding pinpoint target trace button The iron cursor well fill. This means your over the cap because it is larger and pulling you away from the dime. Most people hit the dime and move forward to pinpoint and end up being 6 inches away from the dime and then get the junk signal and never see the dime that's right there.Target trace has to be engaged and held as you hit the coin with the leading edge of the coil or you well only fill the iron cursor. If you release the button on the pinpoint target trace at anytime the dime well disappear .This also works with pull tabs and other hits As far as nails say a 16 penny nail over a dime it well read 12.44 one way and cursor well fill and great audio but if you swing the other way it well be junk with splattering on the cursor. If you engage the target trace on the nail the cursor on the dime well fill and the iron cursor well fill but the dime well fill as 12,33 because the nail is pulling the #s down also there well be no audio high tone just grunts but you have both cursors filled and a nonferrous target at 12.33 which is a dig in my book I think i confused myself anybody else notice anything about target trace.Thankx sube

Interesting, thx for that.

I will have to investigate this when I have access to a spot this winter - there is enough iron and coins there.

How deep has anyone found target trace to be effective? I think 6" or so in my somewhat iron mineralized ground.

I kinda know what you re saying but I'm mostly confused..lol I think that this would be so much easier to explain and demonstrate if you were out in the field showing exactly what you mean. For example your explanation above shows that you might have a possible coin being masked by iron. Then record a video showing step by step what its supposed to look and sound like. Today i tried what you said i had both target cross hairs filling in with color. The "coin" and the iron nail. But when i pulled it up it only ended up being a nail. After i filled and covered up the hole i checked it again and nothing but threshold. I guess this would be wishful thinking if someone could show what its supposed to look like when you dig up a coin that was covered up by iron. I hunt in a place where there is tons of iron and have pulled up some silver but none of them were masked by something. Which pretty much tells me that i am doing something wrong because i know that there are more coins, i just don't understand how to recognize a masked target yet. Some help would be greatly appreciated.

Dr Deus did you have good clean audio one way meaning right to left left to right if it was a nail being a long signal center would have been pull off by 6 inches and not stayed using the tip of your coil. The best way to see how this works is to take a bottle cap and place a dime 2 inches away. If the cap was touching the dime the #s well be lower say 12.35 if the cap is on the dime it well grunt iron so if you have a bottle cap close to a dime say 3 inches the #s well be true 12.44 but as you get closer cap to dime the #s go to 12.40 and touching 12.35 it well still show 2 targets till the dime is partially covered by the cap at that point it well grunt iron 12.15 because the cap is totally masking the dime.Any how if you hit a 12.44 with good AUDIO you think your centered on the coin but you are not you are actually 6 inches from center as you move forward to center the audio gets worst and worst but the coin 12.44 cursor and the iron cursor fill also 12.30 starts to fill.Go back to where the 12.44 was and pinpoint with the tip of your coil and dime well be directly below the leading edge of coil and dig.

Make a video Sube. Show us what your talking about. I just picked up a Kodak
ZX5 for less than a $100.00. Video says so much more.

I see what you're saying sube. That's one reason I'm missing my pinpoint when digging several targets around junk/iron.

I dont know if you are interested or not but you can pick up a refurbished zx5 from amazon right now for $54.99 shipped. check that, it is now $56.99. I have 3 of them for myself and my kids and it is great for doing videos.

Vanbibr get yourself a bottle cap rusty steel one and do the test i have outlined for you.As far as a video i well be making one soon but my main computer is crashed can't load pics or vids on this one.

Ok Thanks Sube i will definately keep an ear out for that one way hit. then try the pinpointing method you were talking about. HH

Have you seen Gone Hunting videos on target trace? He identifies coin spill on cam before he digs while running it. I was there to witness one of his called out coin spills. AMAZING! It does work! VERY useful!

Here is the vid with the target trace Bart is talking about... First is the entire video.. The second link below is it fast forwarded to the spot where I start showing the target trace.. The link under that is the same vid at the moment when I used target trace to show a pocket spill... The third link is a hunt with Bart where I have another coin spill.... Needless to say I am definitely sold on this machine..

Guy's the whole point of what I'm trying to say is using target trace on a coin signal that's by a larger target and not missing it because you thought it was a false or junk signal.sube
