Target ID

Hello everybody. New to the forum and the hobby. I have been detecting for a year now with my AT Pro. I am still digging way to much trash. I dig everything 75 and up. I have noticed that sometimes I get a nice tone but no cursor or ID number is that normal? Does not happen often. I also dig a ton of aluminum pull tabs and parts of cans that ring 80-82, drives me insane. I do not have to many problems distinguishing the bottle caps but pull tabs and foil or parts of cans get me every time.

Hi and welcome to the forum. My ATP will sometimes also have good tone with no VDI, I think what it is, is the target is deeper than 10" when this happens. I've dug those signals and found targets 12" or more deep. Lot of the time after digging 6" out, rescan the hole and you might pick up a VDI then.
As far as the can slaw and pull tabs go......you just have to dig them. We only have iron discrimination to work with. If you notch out the pull tab range, you risk loosing some good targets and like 2wheeldevil says, gold can be in the foil range as well.

Good luck with your hunting

dont rely on vdi rely on the tones its just that the target is on the edge of detection depth and I have found some good targets like that. Ive dug civil war buttons that rang in the 40s

Welcome to the forums. I made a video years ago that will help you with understanding where certain targets fall in the VDI numbers on the AT Pro.

AT Pro VDI numbers Demonstration

I just got finished tonight weighing and labeling a bunch of gold, silver, and platinum rings to make a new video where I'm going to bury all the targets this time and film 3 different videos using 3 different coils on the AT Pro. Here's my Tweet I sent out tonight that has a pic of the goodies all ready to be buried.
