Target ID

I am new to the Ex II. What conductivity and ferrous target readings are considered "must dig" when using the digital readout? I know it depends on what I am looking for. For now lets say I am just intersted in US coins and jewelry. I think I like the DFX's broader range of numbers and tones better, but I have a lot more experience with them. So far I have not found much use for the ferrous readout. What am I missing? All help is appreciated.

I switched over to the digital a while back and like it. The ferrous reading do help ID the target beter than with just the conductivity readings. Here is what I have found out by experience. A nickle will read 5 mostly on conductivity and some will be 6 and may even bounce to 7 once in a while, but the ferrous has always been 10 or 11, so this helps on some of the pulltabs versas the nickles that have the same conductivity numbers. Now i dig 24 and 25 conductivity with 6 ferrous as these are IH and zinc pennies while a copper penny will read 26 or 27 with a ferrous of 3 or 4 and a screw caps will read a 27 just like a copper penny, but the ferrous is 7. A new quater seem to be 29 with a 0 ferrous and a silver quarter is a 30 with a 0 ferrous and if you get a 31 conductivity it will be iron. My 2 silver halfs read 28 conductivity with a 0 ferrous. A 28 with a 3 ferrous will be a new dime most of the time.

Hey Tom,
There is an entire chart of ferrous and conduct readings for the XS2 on Shaner's site at http://groups.msn.com/MinelabExplorerXSusers
