Target ID at discmode and allmetall

ger-man

New member
Hello @ all,

first , my english is very terible but i hope
you understand me.
My question is very simple.
I have a tek g2.
Why shows me the target id in the discmode before
than the allmetallmode? E.g.

A coin at 10 inches for the coil give me a accustic sound and the target id on the display but in the allmetall mode with the same coin at 10 inches for the coil give me a accustig signal but not a target id..?
The target id shows me at 8 inches..in the allmetallmode..
I think the allmetall is much deeper than the disc but the target id shows me deeper in the disc

All the same settings in disc and allmetall(gain) and is a airtest...

I hope you understand me, whati wont...

In all metal the number display is ground mineralization reading and where the depth meter is in disc changes to an fe meter in all metal. It does not display depth in all metal. As for id, in all metal you can use the curved number range to at the top to help with id. The all metal mode is deeper than discrimination mode in all of my tests and actual use.

I think he's talking about the bars on the arch in all metal. They don't come on in all metal on deep targets. That's the way my Gold Bug Pro is

If that is what he meant, then yeah it dissappears on mine too with deeper or smaller targets. It also seems that all metal mode is more prone to masking when using the arc. I have been experimenting with the all-metal mode by searching a small area in a totlot and only digging items that show up above 40 on the arc or that do not show up at all. I ignore anything that locks on below 40. I then go back over the area in disc and repeatedly find coins and other nonferrous items that I have missed in close proximity to ferrous items. In disc, the different tones really help to know that there are two items. I tried this 4 times yesterday and every time I missed some good targets in all metal if I based my decision on the arc alone.

Thanks for the report. I hunted in all metal this winter when I had to sweep on top of 4-5" of snow. This spring I'm going to hunt with disc and when get that really tiny pip of a high sound I'm going to switch to all metal and listen to it. Maybe all I need to do is use the pin point. I am disappointed the all metal id doesn't work on deep targets. Would be nice to have an iron sound in all metal like the Treasure Baron Gold Trax.

Thanks for the posts..

Yes i mean this what rick say...

That the target id in the discmode shows earlier than the alletallmode
E. G.
Discmode:
Object: ./50 bmg
Airtest: accustic(beep)sound and show target id at
16 inch

Allmetamode:
Object:./50 bmg
Airtest: accustic(beep)sound at 20 inch BUT target id
shows me first at 14 inch

You see , the target id is shows me earlier in discmode.

Is that normaly or is my teknetics g2 defektive?

Thanks and i m sorry for this broken english..

In disc mode, the trigger level that controls what you hear, also triggers visual target ID.

In all metals mode, you're setting the controls for what you want to hear, and since you're trying to hear everything (even ground noise) it's customary to set audio threshold into the positive region so there is always sound. And operation of the audio system doesn't involve "triggering", it's continuous. The machine has to guess what sorts of signals represent a metal target that should be ID'd, and it's designed to be somewhat conservative so as not to constantly throw ID's onto the display that are actually electrical interference, hot rocks, etc.

It's not a defect, it is an inherent difference between all metals autotune operation and discrimination mode operation.
