I only had an hour or so to detect so I went to the local fairgrounds. It will occasionally give up a civil war bullet and even less occasionally a silver coin. I was in the middle of digging a 12" bullet disguised as a rusty bolt when I hear a vehicle driving right up to me. I didnt know who it was or what they were going to say. The guy pulls up and asks if Im finding anything. I told him just some junk. He then asks me where I have detected. I pointed to some areas. I had hit in the past. He then proceeds to tell me that during the fair they took a straw bail and tore it all up and them threw a bunch of coins into it for the kids to find. He tried to point out the area, then just drove his truck to the spot. I walked over there and he pointed out the spot. I started searching and right away I hit 3 quarter signals. I offered them to him because he was kind enough to tell me about it. He then left and I proceeded to find all these coins. It got dark so there are probably some more scattered around. I will hit the area again sometime and see what is still there.

It doesn't get much better and easier than that.

Interesting hunt!

Hey, you just gave me and metal detectorists all over the world an idea about a new way to celebrate Easter morning, but the significant other has to agree to bury them. :crylol:
