Thank you for all the responses about my boo boo. First off, I injured my wrist the night before I was supposed to go to the Veterans Administration Hospital for an appointment anyway, so I just waited till the next day to go in. After looking at it, the doctor declared it a bad sprain, but ordered x-rays just to be sure. I went and got the x-rays done, and was supposed to wait for her to look at them. Unfortunately, she took off at 1:00 for some reason... I don't know, maybe she wasn't feeling well. Anyway, I sat around for almost 2 hours, waiting for her to look at my x-ray, and finally they told me she was gone for the day, and that she would call me tomorrow about the x-rays... still waiting for the phone call. Remember, its the VA!
I injured my hand while washing my truck. I have to use a step ladder to get up high enough to wash all of the hood and windshield; the step ladder was wet, my boots were wet, and leaning too far forward, my foot slipped off the step and went between two of the rungs, my hand coming down at an odd angle on the top step of the ladder. I could tell it wasn't good right away. Yesterday, my hand was swollen up like a blown up surgical glove, and I've discovered a few new colors on my hand that I will have to include on my painting palette. One I call "sheening sunfish green".
I have also realized just how important your right hand is in your everyday duties. During the Civil War, after Stonewall Jackson had lost his left arm to a gunshot wound, General Lee commented that "Gen. Jackson had lost his left arm, and I have lost my right..." I am now very aware of the importance of your right arm.
At least today the pain has subsided down to tolerable levels. I could barely get any sleep the first 2 nights, every movement was like a lightning strike in my arm.
Thanks again for all your comments and well-wishes, I'm sure I'll be good as new in a couple of weeks. Or, according to Chris in Canada, a couple of years.
