Taking A Few Swings With The Tesoro Tejon/NEL Sharpshooter Coil :tesoro::usaflag::detecting:

So far so good with this match-up. They seem to work pretty good together. I'm getting good coverage with each sweep of the coil. I'm pleased with the depth and separation. However the Sharpshooter coil's discrimination is not as good as the 8 inch doughnut coil or the 5.75 inch concentric coil. Still not bad though. I went back over my tracks that I made yesterday to see what I missed. I don't know how I missed the Mercury Dime that was laying next to the sidewalk. I know I went down that edge several times. At any rate, I finally got it.:) I keep finding wheat pennies (1947, 1941, 1952, 1916, 19??, 1927, 1937, 1949 ). I also found a 1889 Indian Head Penny, a sterling bell and a badge.

You find the most unusual things. That badge is way cool. I may have to head out when supper is over after seeing this.

Nice finds, keep us informed of that sharpshooter coil.

Tab that must have been a very prosperous community at one time , its amazing how much silver you are pulling out , along with all kinds of cool finds, -by all means make the most of it before they tear down the neighborhood and haul it away.and put up a wall mark parking lot .

Thanks Tabman for the report, do you happen to own the 10" Tesoro Elliptical coil for the Lobo SuperTraq? If so would you mind doing a comparison test on the Tej

I am just curious to see how they compare, but I will probably end up buying the Tesoro coil. Maybe once I get it we can swap em for a week and compare notes.

Great finds Tabman! You find good treasure with any detector you use. Just goes to show that a lot of times it is more the person running the detector than it is the detector. Also, good sites help. Congratulations and keep posting all your great finds.

Tabman, thanks for always posting a photo of all the junk you dug, along with the keepers. It is very encouraging to a new guy like myself to see that others are digging up so much trash as well.

Nice finds by the way, still looking for my first silver coin. One of the places I have been searching has yielded a wheat penny every now and then, so I am hoping to find some silver eventually.

Hihosilver having a good location to detect is a big part of being successful. I mostly run my discrimination at the point where a Gatorade foil cap just discriminates out OR lower. I use the the foil cap as a discrimination maximum marker, because I found that all but the very tiniest gold rings discriminate out above the foil cap. I know that I'm not missing much at that setting. Turning up the discrimination and just shooting for silver coins works, but to me the 'thrill' is gone. I want to know what was dropped and lost along an old sidewalk or under a shade tree a hundred or so years ago. That's exciting! You just never know what's going to pop up! That's the FUN part for me.

For this type of detecting, nothing has worked better for me than Tesoro detectors have. Period:)

Tab I am with you , as long as i can ignore the small foils , I am good , and that goes with the compadre, just a bit to much disc and out goes a lot of rings.
