Tabman Special pulls out the gold

My nine year old daughter and I took the Compadre and Silver uMax out to a modern park today. it was beautiful out -- leaves changing colors, 60 degrees, and just a slight breeze. We hit a volleyball pit and a soccer field with both detectors using Tabman's gold finding settings - disc at the "o" in foil and the (Silver uMax) Sens maxed out.

Found a junk ring in the soccer field, a dollar or so in clad, and this:

18 karat with little diamonds (I assume) surrounding a garnet or maybe a pink Sapphire. Dont know my gemstones very well.

Anyway, fun times with the kid, swinging the two least expensive but most fun Tesoros!

That's a beautiful gold ring!

I'm glad that someone is finding the gold. I found a few gold rings at the beginning of year, but I haven't scored a gold ring in months.

It seems like the harder that I try the worst I do. At least I'm having fun looking for one.:)

that baby is nice, looks like a sapphire,

Thanks for looking guys. Say, do any of you sell your jewelry? If so, do you go to a pawn shop? A jeweler? eBay?

Imgoing to keep my first ever gold ring because its old (1913 inscription) but Im not much of a gold collector.

Id rather sell this ring and use the money to get another Tesoro!

I sold some gold last year to a jeweler but I wish I hadnt. I didnt get anywhere near the price for gold. Its a ripoff. If gold is worth 1300 dollars an ounce then thats what I think I should get. Not 60 percent.

Nice ring, I havent found one this year. Ive dug several hundred tabs this week and all Ive found is costume jewelry.

Very nice goldie! Congrats. I squeaked a small 10K with my new silver two weeks ago. Cheers:clapping:

Cracker of a ring there, Mojo!:surprised:

ARA or Midwest Refiners, they both give the most for gold, plat, whatever... its like 5% off whatever the days melt value is or something like that......thing is, with a ring like that, it should be worth something a little more than melt IF you can find a buyer. Ebay, or sell it to a friend..some local jewelers will sell things on consignment, so if that ring has an appraised value of 1900.00 they will try to sell it for 800.00 and take 20% commission of that, which is still better than melt, but may take some time..

I have had very poor luck with Craiglist...seems every scammer there will mess with you if you leave your email address for a reply...folks that do sell on craiglist have a seperate and cheapo phone and email just for the Craiglist viruses...again, that is a beauty find...what did your daughter think when she saw that?

Thanks all, it was a pretty fun hunt, only my second gold ring. Admittedly, I dont hunt with gold settings much, so I cant expect to find it often. but its nice to go out looking for gold specifically and actually finding it where you think it might be!

Mud, thanks for the info, and my daughter absolutely flipped out! Once she saw that the ring would not fit her, she spent the next hour discussing the relative merits of buying a hot tub versus a swimming pool versus a new wardrobe versus a trip on a Disney Cruise ship. Apparently, she felt that it was her presence that persuaded the gold faeries to bless us with a ring and therefore she was deserving of some portion of the proceeds. I told her she would have to wait until Christmas to see if that would happen.

I did get her an ice cream cone to hold her over until then.

Wait a minute. You want another Tesoro??? What the heck is wrong with the one that found that ring. What about that little girl?? Resize it and put it on her finger. She will love it very much. I can feel it in my bones... KEN

Hay,,, You have the best hunting partner in the world. Everyone on here would love to have a little friend like you have to hunt with and teach them all the tricks and have a good time. YOU give her an ICE CREAM CONE...... Give that girl a break. Give her a candy bar too. Just remember that she went with you and put up with you. I am sure that she loves her daddy just as much as her daddy loves her. Come on now ,,, give in a little.... Keep up the good work.... :clapping: ... KEN

Nice find, congrats. I have sold a few of my 14 rings to my local pawn shop but only ones that were bent up or damaged, figure( they paid better than the we buy gold places) about $25-$125 per ring depending on weight and karat I am looking into selling the rest to the ARA or similar place as well but cant get a response from them via email. Do they buy individual rings or do you have to send them a certain quantitiy?

You're right Ken. Best hunting buddy I could ask for.

...and she will eventually get all of the profits of our plunder -- likely in the form of new barbie dolls, trips to the book store and, god help us all, a drum set.

What a great Dad and nice ring too. I cant wait for my son to be just a little bit older so I can start taking him out. WTG HH

A drum set. Oh my God. Hope she likes metal detecting a little better. Your ears will be pounding.... KEN
