tabdogs to blame:clapping:

my wife was reading one of your old posts over my shoulder about how good the compadre was and made a comment of hand that i should have one to back up the vaquero.that was couple of weeks ago.i thought she was joking, til this morning after hunting three tots lots for $3.65 and a few bits of junk jewellery.sitting on my side of the bed was my aniversary present ,a new compadre, but after i picked up my chin of the floor ,i said we can't afford it,but she said you'll have to find more like tabdog. sure but i don't live in arkansa. i hope you see my point after constantly raving about it on all your posts blowfly.

well thats a good woman ya got there blowfly , and I also brought a Compadre in part to fine reviews givin by tabdog ,Monte and others  :tesoro:

Sorry about the wife thing...

I like my Compadre so much I have trouble containing my
excitement about the little bugger.

It is not the more powerful. It's not able to do a lot of things
that my other detectors can do.

But as a first MD, or an addition to an arsenal, it is the best.

The price and ability to do really good, I just love mine...:inlove:

I hope I have not given anyone misleading info. That concerns
me because not every body likes to hunt in trash and tot lots
with a meter-less machine. To me it was like a light bulb coming on...

Good Luck with yaw's new Little Buggers,

After reading the positives posts on the Compadre I decided to buy one for my wife. I found one on the forum for $115.00 so I bought it. After receiving it I turned it on and it pretty much beeped non stop no matter where I placed the knob. I emailed the guy I bought it from and he said there was nothing wrong with it. He was so confident in it that he paid the shipping for me to send it to Tesoro to be checked out. Rusty from Tesoro called me and told me that he there was nothing wrong with it, he did go all through it and check everything. I got it back from Tesoro yesterday turned it on and same thing - beeps pretty much constantly. I am guessing that the Compadre's are not made for my area for some reason. Maybe it has something to do with no sensitivity control or maybe it is getting interference here in my yard from the power lines, I don't know. Anyways my wife says it has to go - so anyone wanting a Tesoro Compadre give me a shout. It has a brand new lower rod, overall in good condition & has a 7 inch coil. Thanks! Steve.

My Deleon goes nuts in my back yard till I get about 100 feet away from the house. If you turn it all the way up to silver and the beeping pulses, it's induction from a 60 cycle source. I'd take it in the woods before selling it.

I think Tabdog should change his name to Mr. Compadre (if there isn't one on this forum already)! I thought I was done buying MD's for now- till I read his post about the compadre. Now he's planted this seed in my brain and I can feel it taking root. I know it'll only be a matter of time before I get one. So far I've been able to resist the urge but I don't know how long I can resist the Dark side......

The two things that I like reading about are: cleaner rejection because of the lack of high gain circuitry, and the ability to handle tough mineralized areas because of it retuning ability-both of which seem to counteract a lot of target masking. I don't know if the fact that it finds small gold chains really matters that much to me, but with the smaller coil and the two aforementioned qualities I can see it as being a great coin machine. I, too, am pondering.

I think it's a nice fast coin hunter.

But it's performance is about average.

It does best for me where trash is a

challange and surface hunting in a tot lot.

Those are where my best finds come from.

I have a nack for it. It's fun to me.

It took a while to even try some of things

that Speedy can do because no other MD

would ever do it. It seemed usles to try.

Now I can find things that are completely

invisable to others.

Sorry if I sound confident. That's what it takes

to try it. A little leap in faith.

Happy Hunting,

i'm not really blaming you tabdog,i would have got one eventually,it just took me by surprize and i thought that heading would attract a responce from one and all. i was going to buy one awhile back but my wife who controls the purse strings, talked me into the vaquero. so now i've got both and i really don't miss tid machines. ran the compadre over a local park and the tot's lot this morning and found $23.65 .was i just lucky or was it the new machine just stretching it's legs. i did notice that it was lighter than the vaquero to swing ,maybe it was the less knobs ,ya think!! no more she says hmmm that sand shark can handle wet beachs bye for now blowfly hh :detecting:

That's a good haul, at that pace it will only take 6.3932346723044397463002114164905 times to pay for itself. Steve.

Dang that's good! I'm just tired thinking how many times i got to bend over to pick up that many coins let alone digging for them! Good job! Between you and Tabdog, who needs sales reps?!!!

i say skilwiz ,that's a lot of money for me in one day . iusually find about $8 to $10 a day if i'm lucky.cairns in australia where i live has a population of around 180000 not counting the tourists . i have about another ten detectorists that i know of all trying to outdo each other in the limited target areas in and around the whole area.sure it's going take me a while to recoup my outlay. first i have to find enough to pay air fares and accommodation when i take my wife to see andre rieu as a thank you and annervary present in december,so every day between 0600 and 1100 . i hunt . bye now . blowfly . ps. an american tourist said to me this morning that wouldn't i be better of with a real detector and not atoy like that ,i couldn't thump him because there were two cops in a parked car filling their faces watching me .so i moved away muttering about his possible parentage.

Your not alone , I took mine to a totlot that the Tejon handles as quite as a mouse and encountered the same problem constant beeping , there is a radio anttena close by that I believe is responsible for the interference , so much for the Compadre looks like a job for the Tejon
