I read the forum for quite a while before joining.
Participating and interacting here has been valuable and will continue to be valuable to me.

I certainly hope that over time, Tabdog, the moderator(s) and anyone who may be ruffled can come to terms with what is what and can help continue and even increase the valuable contributions to this forum from both the very experienced and the newer, bright and curious detectorists.

I sure hate to see any of the active contributors to this forum go away.

With hopes that Tabdog is well and has some great hunts coming his way, I took the Compadre out for about 45 minutes to the hunted out play ground two houses down the road. A handful of little foil pieces that I didn't picture, but here ya go:

old tabs, two dimes and a couple little pieces of brass later.
Cheers,

Hey TVR, any one of those pulltabs could have been a hefty gold ring. My Cortes tells me Pulltab when it is indeed a pulltab, but I still dig because you never know for sure till you dig it. When I'm told it's Foil I dig that too, hoping it will be a ladies gold ring or a gold chain. What the meter knows for sure is small Iron, dimes, and quarters. Nickles and pennies could be smaller or larger gold rings. That's the nature of all metered detectors.

All the gold rings I have found have been between foil and tab. Gold earring backs I have tested start to disc out at foil. As you know ya got to dig the trash. What I am still hoping for in this little play ground is to find some silver coins. Haven't got any from here yet. Have pulled two silver rings, but no gold yet either from this spot.

Nice flock of tabs there!

As Jabbo has put it, folks with metered machines are so pleased when digging verifies their meter is correct.

The only problem, he noted, is jewelers are so creative manufacturing jewelry in different configurations that emulate scrap!

There remains no option, if you're serious, but to dig 'em all!

Best
