Tabdog has me thinking.. what do you guys think of the 180 vs 120 machines?

The 180 seems hotter, but at the expense of more iron and aluminum in the diet. Its easy enough to tell, but I get tired of hearing only iron and I start to dig the better sounding ones....results = more buckles. Some aluminum and crumpled foil signal in as tempting digs all too often. So there's a little more trash in the diet. New pull tabs can be ignored, but the old thick ones sound wayyy too nice not to dig. results = more rings and a lot more pull tabs.

the 120 machines can be set to break up on the same items 180 machines can't ignore.

I like them both and can't decide which I prefer. I think I lean towards 120 most days, because if I'm going to dig every thing I can, but if I want to ignore more I can do that too..

What do you people think?

[size=large]are being compared. There are many w/ED-120 and several w/ED-180. Some of each discriminate versions can be quieter in iron trash than others, and some have more 'issues' in nasty iron debris.

A quiet-running ED-180, such as the Compadre, can have the rejection increased to duplicate the iron nail rejection of an ED-120 Bandido, for example, but it can also be fine-tuned to accept a little more than the Bandido w/o responding to everything. Both are quiet hunters in iron trashed sites.

This is just one example.

I feal pertty much the same way. But I tend to use the ED 180 a little more than the ED 120
and the Vaquero, what ever ED it is.

I usually don't use disc. The ED 120 or the Vaquero gives me some disc naturally while still
getting max depth and sensativity.

But sometimes I do use some disc on the ED 180 and it makes it somewhat like the ED 120.

It's a matter of what machine I want to use for the hunt. Also the conditions of the hunt.

Can't add much to what you said. I feal the same way.

Just to add. My Machines are:

Euro Sabre and Compadre have true ED 180

Silver Sabre uMax has a ED 120

Vaquero reported to have an ED 180. But we all know that it is not the true ED 180.

Happy Hunting,
