Any T2 users out there in western Ma area interested in hunting ? Not a pro at it still learning .........

The T2 is rather user-friendly, unlike many other makes/brands. Practice prevails, but as mentioned above, members here are always eager to help. They helped me when I got mine.

I agree this forum is great for learning with the T2! When I first got mine I would use this forum every day! Anytime I have a problem or a question I just post it on here and usually you get some responses the same day! I honestly wouldnt be where I am with my machine today without this forum! If you ever get discouraged with yours just come here and ask a few questions! At first I was really questioning if I bought the right machine! I wasnt getting the depth and performance that everyone talked about! Now that Ive learned the T2 I absolutely love it! I have been doing so good in the field and pulling the deep coins from hunted out sights! Until you are familiar with your T2 dont think that you have to run it HOT all the time to get the depth! This is what I used to do and I wasnt doing as good as I should of been! If its trashy and you run your sense to high the machine will have trouble picking up the good stuff! For trashy areas I usually run sense 75, disc 5, tone 2, I found out that sometimes if very trashy and you have disc set high it will block out the good signals along with the trash. This is why I like hearing everything in the ground! Its kind of annoying listening to all the Iron grunts but you can hear the dig me's underneath the Iron that you normally wouldnt hear with disc up! Good luck fellow T2er!!

Jahn, because your new to the unit I am posting the following which gives you an idea of how the T2's discrimination settings can affect depth.

Using a 14 month old T2 LTD, 11

Wow that's great ! I can't say thank you enough, even though now the weather has turned colder I am going to head out and see how I do .
Stay tuned, thanks again everyone ,

WOW!!!! THANK YOU!!! I never relized how much affect on depth the different settings actually have I know they say on most detectors the higher the disc the less depth you get! That obviously isnt the case with the T2! I am so thrilled by this post! I cant wait to get out and try some new settings! This really opened my eyes to a few theories I had in my head about how the machine acts due to dif settings! What are the down sides to running the boost mode though! I have read a ton of T2 reviews and knobody seems to ever use the boost mode! The majority seem to like usind the same settings and some of them are- sense 75 disc 4 tone 2. Thats the most common that I see. I do use this setting alot also I just like to run a little hotter if possible. My other favorite setting is sense 90 disc 50 and tone 3. I kill it on the coins in this mode! If its a clear high pitch tone with no shadow and the Id numbers arent bouncing much its a coin 90% of the time! Thanks again for the info! Most helpful T2 post Ive ever read hands down! Im sure the ground conditions affect these stats greatly but this gives me a good foundation to go offf of! What would you recommend for a heavily trash infested area? These are the sites that seem to give me the most problems! Also for some reason the T2 picks up old cut nails super deep! Ive dug a bunch of these nails over a ft deep and they read in the high 80's. Do you have any idea why this is? Just curious cause it seems to happen often around my home town?

Justin/Jahn11...the boost mode is good for searching with 11" coil a few inches off the ground...example....stubble in a harvested farm field prevents coil from touching soil. Also, when the 5" DD is attached the T2 SE or a Fisher F75 LTD/SE, the boost mode really gives some serious overdrive depth to an already deepseeking 5" coil in standard mode. I think a boosted 5" DD can lay down some serious depth in really trashy areas. BTW...the 5" is my favorite coil.
Also, my 5" DD coil test was an air test with a standard T2....the first test with 11" DD T2 SE was in fairly mineralized british soil. Was done for me by a nice detectorist named Mal. Thanks Mal !!

Yea in some cases but not all! If you use 50 disc it goes into overdrive and you still have great depth! Ive been using sense 90 disc 50 tone 3 and I have been killing it on the coins! The chart says that disc 50 through 80 Your pulling 8 to 9" and with disc 10-20 your only getting 6 to 7". This chart is only a ground basis! I mean the same theory applies everywhere its just that you will not get the exact depth in different kinds of ground conditions! I hunt some pretty bad ground sometimes and you really have to have your machine set up right to achieve maximum depth. This chart is pretty close to dead on for sure! Ive figured out most of these facts from being out in the field. Its nice to see that my theories about the T2 are pretty close to dead on! There are some things that I havent figured out yet but thanks to this chart I am ready to go kill it some more! This is the most helpful T2 posting I have ever read thats for sure! Thanks again Terra!!
