T2 vs. CZ5 for Coinshooting

Cherry Picker

New member
I have been using a CZ-5 for coinshooting for the past 2 years and have become very proficiant with it. i rarely dig nails and have found many nickels and silver coins up to 8" with it. What i like most about the CZ is The tones and depth. I like having good ratio of nickels to pulltabs in the high tone. For heavy iron infested sites like ghost towns I use a 1236X-2 for good target seperation and have found 3 seated coins that i missed with the CZ.
My question is do you think the T2 would replace both of these machines for Coinshooting and ghost towning. I'm always looking for something better but find the CZ hard to replace for coinshooting. The only thing I don't like about the CZ is how noisy it gets in nails. I like the analog meter alot but am not married to it and could live with digital.
Hope to hear from Dan. PA especially since he is a CZ guy from way back.
What do you think.
HH, Jerry

Heres my feelings....T-2 will definetly hit and ID an 8 inch coin has better seperation, will cover much more ground, will tolerate a much faster swing is easier to pinpoint than a CZ and definetly will not be as easily masked by iron. It appears you run your CZ wide open so don't feel it will be any noisier than a CZ..Now when I cherrypick no pun intended..I run disc. high very quiet machine and have gotten 12 inch silver dimes at least in my neck of the woods so will have to get some time on the T-2 to see if it will duplicate at least in my case....jury is still out if it can be a local parks for shallow clad and also be my deepie machine until I can experiment.
In your case shooting from the hip would say yes it will replace both your Fisher units....but give me a dozen trips or so in the field to try out this new kid on the block...best I can do at this time my friend and yep have used CZ's since 92 when they came out...

T2 does a great job coin shooting. The worst thing about the T2 in the parks is hunting in the trashy areas...But remember your planning on using this machine to find deep older coins that have been missed over the many years, and trash will be a problem. However the T2 has the ability to see through most of the trash and Id some of the items missed over many a year of old fashioned detecting!

At times you'll have to turn the sensitivity down to the 30 range But don't worry Air test the T2 at 30% it's not bad at all...and when you can run it at 90 in different area's of the same park ...she's very easy to bump back up! It's the versatility of the T2 thats going to work an area better than most detectors. The operator just has to be versatile also, and knowledgable about the abilities of this great machine.
Oh yea one thing I forgot to mention...First Texas oops(Teknetics) will be coming out with a coin shooter coil I'll bet in the near future!
Enjoy it and read the forum often many great detectorists post here all the time. You can sit back and cherry pick the knowledge you need!
What an awesome place to hang out!
Thanks Guys
