I have used the t2 se for three to four months i have checked empty lots in town where old houses once stood
school grounds and tot lots and old home places in the country mostly looking for coins but i have yet to find the
first ring what am i doing wrong? my settings are sensitivity 60 discrimination 21 3 tone

I know what ya mean I haven't found any real gold rings myself so far just a couple of plated ones and the surprising thing is I haven't found any silver jewelry, I guess we just haven't found the right spots yet and/or swung the coil across one and got a signal that we wanted to dig. HH and keep on looking hopefully you'll find one before to long. Jimmie

First your coil has to go over a gold ring, second you have to be prepared to dig everything from foil up to get a gold ring. Gold comes in all different shapes, sizes, and different karats are alloyed with different metals, which also contribute to the signal. I've dug gold rings that rang in anywhere from foil (small 14K ladies ring) to zinc penny (24K mens signet ring). Silver rings on the other hand should be fairly easy to find, IF they're there.

Keep at it, you get them if there there.

First find out where your foil range is and then start digging. 20 years of detecting and I have found 50 + gold rings. I also have been using the G2 as of late and love it but the T2 is next. And I'm sure its there just keep digging.

I've been trying to hunt more with my Omega's disc set below foil, so far all of my foil signals have been various sizes of foil trash, the VDI reading are all in the 48-51 range hopefully I'll get something different soon and find that first good gold ring. HH ya'll Jimmie

Have you tried to bury some sample gold rings? Wait until the wife is out of town, get a few rings in 14k, 18k and large including earrings. Put them in zip bags to keep them clean and safe. Bury them at a few different depths and in soil similar to where you hunt. At least you can then narrow down to whether the detector is properly adjusted what different gold sounds like and what VDI pops up, etc. Maybe your luck is not doing so good for now.

I haven't had much luck with my T2 when it comes to gold rings. I guess I gotta start digging those 40's and 50's. That being said it works great on nickels for me. A solid 57-8 is usually a nickel.
