T2 SE DST. Need help

I was hoping some of you guys could help me out on my new T2. I'm new to the forum and really appreciate the good information here. I've been hunting 3 years and have logged a number of hours on various machines. I enjoy hunting civil war camps and old plantation sites. My question concerns the FA process. Should I be able to detect a dime over 5 1/2" ? I've done air test and in ground test with the same results, ( Poor depth and a scratchy tone quality) I can only run sensitivity around 65 in FA, all other tones 99 sensitivity with no problem. I sent my first machine in because of the depth and tones issue and they quickly sent me this one in return. Now this one behaves the same! Is this normal or am I expecting to much? Any information would be much appreciated.

Mine acts the same way and I believe this is normal. "Fast" mode is for really trashy parks and such and I don't think it's supposed to go that deep. I'd use that mode when hitting tot lots and parks when you're looking for good signals on shallow targets. But I'm relatively new to the T2 and I could be wrong.

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping for a little more depth and better tone quality. I can't even hit a quarter at 6" in my test garden..

Ive got a 8 inch dime in my test Garden, that's been buried there for years, My T2 with DST turned on, hits the 8 inch dime with no problem, most of my (Many) pass detectors would not detect it at all......I have low Mineralization (2 fe bars)

FA mode is extremely fast and extremely sensitive but not very deep. Didn't care much for it at first. Being a relic hunter I depend on depth most of the time more than separation. But a couple of hunts I had before the heat, ticks, and snakes set in, FA worked like a champ in a few situations. One area I've hunted for years has a spot that iron tones are so thick I could never get a high tone no matter what setting I used with my regular t2 se. Last couple of hunts there with the t2se 2 I used the FA mode and pulled out enough percussion caps to fill a small aspirin bottle, a few small flat buttons and some small scrap brass items. Signals weren't great, numbers read low but at least the non iron tone was there. Nothing was over 3 or 4 inches deep but they were there. I couldn't get much over 60 sensitivity because of the chatter. But that's to be expected with this mode. It's a good piece of ordnance to have in the arsenal when the need arises or if you want to unmask the Lone Ranger.
