T2 Revision question.

Are they using the PLCC type PROM chip and if so I wonder if I could just buy the chip and install it myself ? Just curious and can you get the T2 to display the program version on the display ? Thanks.

Hi John,

It looks to me like the prom is programmed on the board via external software control through a port installed next to the main chip.

By holding in the button and pressing the switch forward to ground cancel, then turning on the T2, the screen will display the software version.

Hi Ed and many thanks, very nice to meet you also. I am a metal detector dealer and have one T2 in the box and thinking of opening it up and look around inside of the electronics. I will checkout the version number. CU later and God Bless.

Hi John,

Thanks!

Here's a link to my earlier post with pics of the inside.

Thanks for the link Ed and oh man they are using an SMT processor chip, I was hoping it was a socketed processor chip and I might be able to get the processor from them and plug it in myself. We use the PLCC socketed type 40 pin processor chips in some of our instruments at work and we can just pull the old one out and plug another updated chip in it's place, very convenient indeed. I can remove the chip but it is a real hassle. Such is life. Ok Ed the photo really is nice and thanks for putting it on the forum. CU later and God Bless.
