T2 Questions?

pull tab mel

New member
How many of you guys perfer the T2 in all metal mode vers. disc?...... Also while in disc. what sensitivity level do you perfer?

Pull tab.....
It all depends on the site. Some sites you can go all metal and sens up in the 90's. Some you have to use 40-50's. There is no one "set" sens level. I would start around 60 and add or take away as needed.

Bart Davis has a good answer for you, it depends on the site. In general I prefer Disc mode because it is quieter, but in a place with a lot of trash I might switch to All Metal. And in some places, especially where the ground is especially dry and the signals are kind of all over the place I find it very useful when in Disc mode to switch to All Metal to verify my signals on targets that look promising. Enjoy!

If your relic hunting All metal..sens as high as possible and still get smooth targets. Coin hunting Discrmination at 40.......sens 85 to 90 should work most areas. Disc up to 50 and you go into over drive ............ Dig deep repeatable sounds even if nothing shows on the ID... Audio is able to work deeper than the machne can ID targets........... I have dug some of my best Silver finds with 0 Id showing.

As in a blank screen with no numbers showing ? If that's the case I hit a few of those and after going over them in pinpoint rapidly and still getting a tone I'd dig down 3"or 4" stick my pro pointer in wouldn't get a beep so I was figuring it was a false signal .Maybe I should have dug deeper then hit it with the pin-pointer?
Elton , I would like to thank you , Terradigger , Bill Ladd and all the others who are helping us T2 newbies out with the great info on the T2 . I have had quite a few detectors over the years ( even one of the real early F-75's ) but to me the T2 is a beast of a different nature . With the help I'm getting here on this forum and a few more hundred holes dug I should have a way better idea of out what works best in this strange dirt I hunt in . Even though I don't have a lot of experience with this machine I have yet to come home from even a very short hunt empty handed and and a couple of weeks ago It found its very first silver a 1943 Merc I've also found a half a dozen wheats with it and quite a bit of clad ( for the pounded places and the short amount of time I get to hunt I'm quite pleased).

Your gonna find lots of things with that T2.. .. It is a fine detector by anyones standards. Yes on the blank screen with no numbers showing.
If you get a chance reread the manual it tells about no ID and audio being seperate entities on the T2.. Independent of each other. In really trashy areas you will get the high tone on good targets, and just a flash on the screen ID of a high number. Swing shoulder to shoulder and you will get better Id and then you can slow a little and isolate the target........if you do not have a 5" DD coil..may I suggest you get one. It's pretty darn deep for a small coil, and it will find the good targets you sometimes miss with the 11" DD. The 11" will hit them, but due to the amount of other targets under the coil and the super fast reset sometimes you have to really let the audio guide you more so than the ID screen.......
