T2 on the Beach?

Neil, my T2 should be here in the next couple of days. I'll do a saltwater beach test one afternoon this week. Don't take it as gospel though as I won't have had time to learn the machine in that time. I am hoping that I get more depth than my Gold Bug does.

The T2 will likely outdo the GB in the dry and damp stuff, but where it's really wet it's probably not going to do as well as the GB.

That statement is just a generality. Your results may differ depending on the actual conditions and on how you're using the machines.

most of my finds have come from the beaches, old docks, fish shacks that line the coast......ive been using the T-2 for quite a few years and i use it right up to the low tide mark..it gets more chattery the closer you get to the salt water, but you can manipulate it to find what you are looking for. i run in disc mode with my disc set at 75, sens at 99, 2+ tones, auto grab grounnd balance, set my hum to a -2 or -3 to quiet her down, and let the fun begin!...if there is a coin there, the T-2 will find it!.......who says you cant use the T-2 at the beach...i also would like to ad that when you get a good signal, its not going to show you what it is for a numeric reading as i have the sens. set at max and it will sjow a 95 or something and it will turn out to be a nickel..........its almost as if the max sens. is overriding the disc setting......ill find nickels, bullets, nails, pennies, dimes, quarters and the numeric reading is not accurate, but i already know that...im listening for that good =2 tone beep, beep!...this isnt rocket science here, 3 easy steps.....SWING, BEEP, DIG!

Hey Neil,
Took my regular T2 to the beach last year and it did great on the dry sand got some good depth but went haywire over wet sand and don't even think about the water.
But for a good fast dry sand hunter it holds its own , didn't find anything great that trip but lots of clad and cheap jewelery but there's always next time.

I finally had a chance to run mine in the wet salt sand today.
AMM as Disc was too chattery and couldn't sort signal from chatter.
Sens 60
Hum +1
GC 2

Worked well but nowhere near the realm of a proper salt machine. I dug a sinker at close to 7", but it was a iffy as signal. Got a couple of coins and a fish hook.

Dry sand it works as expected, the same as a park :)

I'll be looking for a PI beach machine I think...

Ben,

I have tried repeatedly, and a single frequency machine just can't manage wet salt sand well.

If you can get it to run quietly, you will absolutely massacre both your depth and your sensitivity.

They do great on dry sand though.

For wet salt sand you need a dual/multi-frequency detector.

Or a pulse, but remember you dig everything with them. No discrimination. And they go really deep!
