T2 ON/OFF knob modification

New member
Hello Everybody!

That is my first topic in this forum, hope it helps somebody!

I just get tired, that ON/OFF & volume regulation knob hits my clothes all the time during searching and turns volume down, so take a look what i did about it! :smoke:

Before:

After:

To cover a hole, where potentiometer was before, i used a black back of slim CD cover!
After that mod no more problems with volume turning down anymore.

I use the splash covers from the F75 on my T2 now & that seems to keep that knob from moving much, if at all now, but nice job.....

Great idea! I'm a lefty too, but the knob still gets hit by branches and such or my coat. I put a felt washer under the knob to give it a little more resistance to spinning. There's usually so many junk targets here, I notice pretty fast when ol' T2 quits talkin' to me. :D

Hi Parrot,

I always keep my eyes and ears open for such things when hunting and have found some oddball rocks that made my detector respond, but sadly, no, there's no known falls here in the Black Hills and the ground is such that any "prehistoric" impacts have likely eroded or will never be found due to rugged terrain. None of this stops me from hoping, tho!

Up north a-ways there was a story about a pickup-bed-sized meteorite out in some field. Some friends of mine went to hunt for it, guess they got skunked, 'cause I never heard any braggin' and they're all still living like they used to and not drivin' new Humvee's or nuttin'! :D

Howevvah... ;) ...since I worked 12 years at the local museum, I'm allowed access to their pretty much magnificent collection and can borrow specimens to test on my machines. A few years back I did a lot of testing and made a website reporting the results. I used to be able to get meteorites from them at wholesale to peddle, but they've kinda gotten out of that and haven't had much for sale the last year or so.

I've done some T2 meteorite testing but have not written up the results - it's on the "do" list!

Hello Beeter,

can you explain step by step how you did that? it looks an excellent job and I may try to do the same.
Thanks

Hi!

It is not a big deal to explain, you can see most of job, in pictures i left!
Just make a hole where you see potentiometer in picture and cover old hole with some black plastic. I used a black back of slim CD cover.
I also put some PRF plastic spray to electronics inside, to protect it from moisture.

Happy Modificating! :)

Hello Beeter

I stripped down my T2 ready to drill the hole, but I noticed that the volume component card wouldn't fit from that way. How did you solve this problem? it seems pretty narrow inside the audio/volume box

I just finished the mod. It works fine but it wasn't so easy as I thought.

First, the potentiometer card is not meant for staying in the new position so it won't be that easy to close the cover once you finished.
Then, you must be very careful with those wires. While doing the mod, one of the wire broke and I am not exactly an electrician and very good with soldering. Eventually I managed to fix that.
I cover the hole with liquid plastic and then added a piece of bike tube with silicon.
