T2 on a Colonial relic hunt :detecting:

Well, the heat wave we've had here just won't seem to go away. But, I went back to one of my Colonial sites for a few hours anyhow. (even though people still think I'm crazy hunting in 100 degree heat). ;)Again, this is another site that's been hunted hard, but a decent amount of signals surfaced. I think it's a combination of 3 things:
1) T2 power/ frequency
2) record rainfall here
3) My confidence with the unit right away
Anyhow, I was drinking lots of water & got a good sunburn. The better of the finds were early one piece buttons, & also my first T2 coin find surfaced, a 1700's British copper. Though not much left of it, I can see the outline of a King George II head (he's looking left). He ruled from 1727-1760, so that gives a date range at least.....

Here's a picture from my Colonial book of British coins that show's what a good one should look like.

Here's a whole handful of most all the goodies. Stuff like bullet shells, etc were tossed away. There are more musketballs (fired & dropped), a half a shoe buckle, harness rivets, furnature hardware, a hook, etc.....

All in all, another fine day with the T2. I swapped back & forth between 2 & 3 tones this weekend & had fun. (Paul & Jeff your right I like 2 tones for this type hunting) :)

Outstanding finds Bill,

Looks like you're getting attached to the mighty T-2 :)

Glad to hear you're using the 2-tone setup, Low tone for iron signals and the second tone for ferrous targets. This setup enhances the T-2 to greatly reduce iron masking so the weaker signals normally masked by iron will peek between the cracks and alert the T-2 user of a good conductive target hidden beneath or near iron, Any form of discrimination and worse yet increasing discrimination will only weaken the already weak signal creating masking to the point the T-2 will not see the weak signal anymore.

Not trying to beat a dead horse here just hoping others will see the benefit of the 2+ tone feature, Please continue to share your future experiences with the T-2 :)

P.S. I promise I won't bring up the 2-tone setup for a while :)

that when using 2 tones if your running with some background chatter, (iron clicks or high sensitivity) the chatter is lower toned & to me more tolerable. When I was hunting in iron with 3 or 4 tones, the background chatter was high tone spikes.....as you say harder to distinguish from a good signal. I played with every tone last night just for fun & it seems all have their place. For me, 1-2 or 3 seems best.....
HH, Bill

I found for general coinshooting in parks etc, that 3 tones worked best for modern coin. The old ones sound good no matter what ;)
