T2 in the saltwater...

I am at the beach, Panama City Beach, all this week and am having no trouble with my SoverignGT but the T2 will not work in the water. It does fine in the wet sand and dry sand. Of course the GC# is so low that it will not "fastgrab" and in manual GC the only place it get's quiet is on "0" ... So I set it on 0 and go on the hardpan and on the beach but if I put it in the water it overloads and does the siren thingy. I have tried lowering the sens and raising the disc and tried low sens in all metal it just will not work submerged in the saltwater. It work's fine in fresh water though.
The GT is quiet as a moust in the water and I used it yesterday to find a fellow's wedding band that he lost playing volleyball. Actually Ozzie Osborne got the call and called me because his machine is down. The couple were really happy and it was cool finding it for them!

Hello Julien,

WTG with finding the wedding band and returning it to the owner, That was a neat surprise for the couple.

Many detectors will not work well near or in ocean water, Including the T-2. But it does do well in the dry sand area and many other areas more inland were the Sovereign can't operate.

The Sovereign/GT is one detector hard to beat when searching in the ocean water, That detector performs so well it can spoil a beach user.

However, Here's a twist........Up in the high country or in areas inland soil is of high mineralization, The Sovereign will not perform well in these type of conditions and the T-2 will work circles around the Sovereign/GT cutting through the mineralization like butter.

Continue to use the GT for the ocean and the T-2 for other areas more inland, You'll find both have an edge over the other.

They are both keepers for sure...

I'm glad to know that the T2 isn't suppossed to work well in saltwater. They don't make it clear in the manual. It work's fine in fresh water though! It is really comfortable too.

Thanks again,

J
