T2 help needed

Circle C Digger

New member
Just unpacked a new T2 I bough about 2 years ago. I know it is been a long time, but I have been using a Whites XL Pro that I have mastered. Anyway, I put in the batteries and I can not seem to get it to do anything. The display completely lights up with information. I have 8 back triangles on the top part of the display, the Fe has 6 bars and battery display has 4 bars. Nothing happens when I press the menu button. The setting knob might as well not exist. When I originally purchased the detector, I had read that there were some software issues. How do I un-lock this display? Hopefully I do not have to send this back to the factory. It has less than an hour use.

I have gone through the start up motions but I continue to get nada.

Any help and advice would be appreciated.

Well four bars on the battery display is a good thing. Was the machine stored in a damp environment? What type of batteries are you using and where were you when the machine was turned on?

The dial and button not responding is how mine acted in the summer of 07, when the humidity caused it to lock up. The rest of it sounds like some sort of short. Are the battery connections clean?

At least you have three years of warranty left on it. Won't cost anything to get it checked out/fixed, except for shipping.

The T2 was kept in my office closet the whole time. It was was not out of the original box more than a couple of hours max. I decided to call Teknectics today and they recommended shipping it back to the factory. So today in went back to El Paso. Looking forward to getting it back.
