T2 Goes NUTS

New member
I just recently bought a T2. While using the machine, it started rapidly changing Target ID numbers at a rate of dozens of numbers per minute. It will drive you nuts. I thought the machine was fried. I changed batteries, adjusted sensitivity, adjusted ground balance. Basically I changed all adjustments and it didn't quit. I even changed frequencies. I finally went out in the middle of a field next to my house and it seems to be working correctly. What the heck happened and how do I prevent it from happening again. Was it the power lines going into the house.

thanks

You do not have a cell phone on you......if you do....shut it off completely. It will transmit a signal every few minutes to locate a tower and will drive the T2 ape.
I have seen this happen many times...especially with the T2 and DFX.

I bought an early model of the T2. 2nd time out it went crazy and wouldn't stop. I returned it and got a new one which has worked fine.

Don't own a T-2 but I have had this happen before with other detectors when in the vicinity of underground electrical lines.
