T2 finds 1st Silver coin :yo:

I was on my way to a young ladies house for dinner last night & she said she had to pick up a few things & to take my time. So I picked a pounded site on the way to her house to see if the T2 could sniff out anything left in a 1/2 hour or so. I figured maybe I could muster up a tiny button or something.
I put the sensitivity higher this time to 70. It ran stable there....balanced in @ a # 64 & I used 2 tone search. I gut a small bullet shell, some kind of belt stud, or harness decoration, then another weak signal that sounded like the small cuff buttons I've been digging....
Instead, out flipped this tiny, silver 1851 3 cent piece! :surprised:

These are very cool coins, & hard to find 'cause they don't give a good signal at all. It was missed by many other detectorists, including us ;) 1851 was the 1st year these were made, & I think this is my 2nd or 3rd one. The last one was scraped by a plow, so the condition of this one was very welcomed :)
Here's the back, & what I saw........ the big "III" laying face-up at me....

A nice first piece of silver for the T2 & a heck of a way to kill a 1/2 hour! :)
HH,
Bill
PS> BOy this is a fun machine.....I'm gonna hate to give it back to Mr. Bill :D

I bet the young lady thought your face was beaming because of seeing her and all that time you were just thinking of that coin

What a great evening.... Find a rare silver coin, get a free diner, and female companionship. Hard to get better than that:thumbup:

I never thought of it that way. Funny thing is I showed her the coin & made a comment like, "maybe I'll write a story & it will be in a magazine".....
She rolled her eyes like this
& said, "haven't you already been in enough magazines?" ;)

Great find Bill. The more I see of this machine the more I want one. Still a toss up between that and the Quattro though:surprised: What depth did you hit that coin at?

It's a very sensitive unit that's layed out nice & exceptionally well balanced. This is a tiny, thin coin & I believe the inches meter said 6"....

Nice finds Bill especially the three cent piece, She's a beauty.

Hope you and the young lady will get together more often in the future or take her along on several of your metal detecting hunts, She brings you good luck :)

Congrats Bill,
Paul (Ca)
