T2 Compared to Coinstrike: Bill Ladd

RLOH

Well-known member
Bill, I am thinking of trying a T2 or getting the new 75 in the next month or so. Here is a very blunt question. Is the T2 worth getting rid of the C$ for? From what I have read, they appear to be very similar. I am very pleased with the C$, but as all of the diehards know, I am wanting to try the next greatest thing. How do you compare these two detectors? I wish that someone could answer the great question. Is the new Fisher 75 better than the T2? I guess in all reality, I can wait until spring and answer that myself. I am in the same boat as many on this forum. Detecting time is running out with the coming of winter. Thanks for any advice you can give. R.L. Johnson

but, I still own the Coinstrike and no longer own the T2. The T2 might be deeper then the Coinstrike, but electrical interference is twice as bad with the T2 as it can be with the Coinstrike. So if you have had any trouble with interference with the Coinstrike, it will be worse with the T2. Now this is what I have found in my area anyway.

You won't have that great notching like you have with the Coinstrike as well as back light, salt mode, averaging (I don't use it myself) plus ability to save up to 3 programs and will also hold the last seetings when you turn off the machine. The T2 will not have these things.

But, it's on my list of favorite detectors and a real fun unit to use. I also was given this advice by Mike Hillis, the T2 would be a compliment to the Coinstrike, but not a replacement and I whole heartedly agree with this.

and even hard to answer "carefully" as not to ruffle anyone's feathers around here.
Is the 75 better than the T2? It SHOULD very well be, if only for all the additions & improvements that are being done. The F75 LCD looks packed with extra bar-graphs etc, no more RF problems...
It will save last setting, backlight, & that DD coil is amazing. Don't let it's size fool you for iron hunting.
Since the T2 does not do things like save settings, have notching, backlight etc., you may want to hold off on that trade at least until the F75 reports begin to roll in....
I will say this. I'm using a borrowed T2 & loving it more than the C$ right now. Once mastered, it will find tiny things all others missed. So, if the F75 IS like a much improved T2, I will be a very happy camper. (I don't see any RF trouble with the T2, but I relic hunt away from everything).
I wouldn't sell my C$ & risk losing a lifetime warranty in my name, but.....
I can't believe I'm about to say I imagine the C$ COULD become like a back-up if the F75 is what we think....
later,
Bill

I didn't mean to put you guys on the spot. I guess I am a sucker for trying new detectors. I didn't want to buy a detector with similar characteristics. I really like my C$ and I have been looking forward to trying the T2. I have not had anyplace that I have hunted make my C$ get weird, so I hope the T2 will act OK. Now for my problem; I just bought a T2 and I now have three detectors and the CZ6a and C$ are as good as they get. Now I hope I can get the time and weather to treat them all equally. Too many detectors and not enough time. Thanks guys! R.L.

Hope to see ya around the T2 forum. Don't hesitate to ask questions over there.
I found the T2 was alot like the C$, learning curve-wise. In other words, it takes several hours to get fully comfortable...
HH,
Bill

RL,

Please let us know how the T2 compares to the C$. There have been darn few reports comparing the T2 against the dedicated coin machines such as the C$/CZ's at picking out the deeper older coins where they can be found. I know you have the sites to give it a good test. ;)

I look forward to your report.

Tom
