T2 classic at beach questions

T2 will probably only work in the dry sand. Don't know about Mexico. I imagine you can detect there.

Pi and multi-frequency are best in the water and wet sand although I hear the Nokta/Makro are working in the wet sand.

Hi Brain,
Your T2 will work in the wet sand if you lower your gain/sen, especially if using a big coil. The big coil sees more ground and will react to the conducted salts and mineralization more then a smaller coil. If your using a small coil, you may be able to run it a little bit higher. Most VLF don't do well in conductive salt, and get poor depth, but can still be affective if you don't run your gain/sen to high and using a DD coil, like the stock 4x11 biaxel. I have use other detectors that don't have salt modes (Eurotek) for example, and have been able to find jewelry in the wet sand (5 to 6 inches ) but only by going slower and with a lower gain. I would check with the hotel people down there who may be able to give you information on who to talk with. It never hurts to CYA, especially in a foreign country. I hope this helps.

My F 75 works in the wet sand but is a little sparky. Besides running a little lower sen. get a good ground balance. A wet sand g b usually comes in in the teens. Can't tell you about all the beaches in Mexico, but a good many allow detecting. HH jimtn

I would say running a T2 on wet sand is doable but not the ideal machine,as others have mentioned you would have too reduce the sensitivity down to make it work of a fashion,if you plan on just taking the machine away on say the odd vacation trip then go for it,but if you plan on doing alot of beach detecting or just that then i would go down the route of a dedicated machine.

The best machines for wet sand are in my personal opinion the multi freq machines like the Minelab ones or even better a Pulse machine, but of course the Pulse option has good and bad points ie non or limited discrimination depending on what machine you use,but the main advantage is the extra depth that they will give you.

Although i dont live near the sea as i am far inland here in the UK,my weapon of choice for wet beach work would be without doubt the TDI Pro,but i bought that machine mainly for deep hoard/artifact hunting and not beach work.

PI or Multi Frequency Detectors work best for The wet salt sand .....there are some Youtube videos with the t2 in all metal mode on wet salt sand and it did very good.
