T2 at Culpeper, soil was Awful but T2 scored some relics

I have not had a chance to take photos and post them but hope to soon. The ground I hunted in was terrible. The worst place was phase of 87 with FeO3 of 1 I hunted in all metal and one time dug a triangle that I believe is off a rifle sling. Once I got it out of the ground I turned the detector to disc mode, could see the target on the ground and nothing. That is how bad this dirt was. I have never hunted bad ground so I am sure I could have done better with more experience. I got about 10 or 15 bullets,3 eagle buttons, one flower cuff button, tons of small rivets and shoe eyelets, pcs of melted lead, etc. I think the T2 in all metal worked as well as any vlf detector there. The Garrett infinitum and Minelab GP machines really shined from what I understand. I wish I would have taken my pi to see how well it would have done. I didn't want to dig all that iron but had to anyway. The T2 was my detector of choice since I carried my shovel in my left hand I could re ground balance every swing or 2 with the other hand. I am interested in the software updates as well. As Tex would say The Alien rocks and all other VLF detectors just roll

Nice report, JT!

87's about as high as anything I've seen but my FE was lower at .1 to .3. Where you using Fast Grab or did you also try to GB manually?

Rather than pump the coil each time, you could just slide the knob up or down a notch to keep GB stable and not set it as positive as fast grab will. This may allow a weaker signal to be picked up, but it may also false a bit more. Sometimes reducing the sensitivity will help, too. Practice at your site will tell.

Did that triangle have a different ID in air as in the soil? Maybe it had a halo that helped it be detected in the dirt but not on top.

I have seen 87's (have seen 90) here and can tell you it is some awful stuff to contend with.:help: Whenever I encounter it I will usually just crank down the sensitivity a little and that will usually work for me. If I have to, I'll resort to manually Gb'ing. Sometimes you can't find a spot around where the fast grab will work. I recall reading one of Jeffs posts where he was talking about not being able to find a clear spot. I sure can relate to that in some of the places I detect (TRASH, TRASH, TRASH). Hey...I'll do what most don't want to just to get that edge and be able to work somewhere most won't...thats normally where the good stuff is anyway.:) Just have to work harder!;)
