T-2 & Salt Beaches?

Has anyone used the T2 at any of our saltwater beaches? I have heard the new "F" series detectors that will ground balance "all the way to salt". Does the T2 ground balance so you can hunt shallow saltwater? Almost all of the pre-set ground balance machines do fairly well in dry sand but go nuts in wet sand.

Thanks,

Rob in Tennessee

I use my T2 usually for dry sanding and damp sand at the California beaches. My tests submerged show that it can detect something, but only a few inches. In order to use a T2 submerged, I manually set the ground balance as low as it will go, then look for a detection depth of a couple inches. I also found you can hunt by waving the coil in the air over shallow water up to maybe 6 inches deep and find coins lying on the surface of the sand under the water. But there is no comparison to using a submersible PI detector or an excalibur that are good at getting depth under the salt water.

I should add the note that the T2 is pretty good in damp salt sand, It is not until you are at the actual submerged sand that your depth is gone.

Best wishes,

I took mine to Florida last year, Panama City. It worked very well on the beach but would not work at all in the surf. It completely overloaded and went "wow wow wow..."

It was great on the sand though. I had my SovGT there and hardly used it because the T2 is so much more comfortable.
