T-2 at Parks

Hows the T-2 at public parks for old silver?

What kind of depth are you getting?

Does it compete with other detectors out there for parks or is it only good for demos because of it`s great iron separation?

Or is this detector put out only because Teknetics (Bounty Hunter)
needed to come out with something new just to keep up with the competition? HH

Only good for demo's?
Just trying to keep up with other manufacturers?

Sounds like you've already made up your mind about the T2-which is OK. Everyone has an opinion, and different preferences, but do you think those of us on this forum bought it for those reasons? Give us more credit than that! We bought the T2 because we think it will find what you didn't-and do it in more places! We like what it does-how it does it-the quality, and the concept and planning put into this machine! Me thinks we made a GOOD decision! Isn't the whole idea of ANY good company to keep up with other manufacturers? I think they are all out to compete with one another and that's a good thing for all of us!! Good hunting! John(OR)

1. Haven't found any silver, but didn't find much silver with my old unit, either. Gotta hunt to find. Can't hunt yet, frozen.

2. Where I could dig, I've hit 12"

3. I think it will do fine in parks. As with any machine, when in doubt, dig. Learning comes with digging some trash too.

4. FT started at least the conceptual if not also some design work on the T2 probably 4 years ago. Around 2002, it was Dave Johnson's intent to find employ with a company who would allow him some free rein on his advanced ideas. Shortly after that, I heard he started working for Fisrt Texas. Looks like a logical starting point has been reached with a good platform to ply further ideas.

But yeah, you're probably right. Just some gussied-up demo demon promoted by profit pushers. Go back to sleep, your favorite detector maker's not in any jeapordy.

Sorry, that sounded a little harsh. If you're in the market, check 'em all out then make the leap. Whatever brand you use or buy, feel free to drop by again!

Hey Dudes,

Thanks for replying. I stated about it being a detector just to keep up with competition because Bounty Hunter needed something new to boost it`s market. But I don`t think it Really any different than other detectors out there. The only advantage I see is some good separation in it. It would be great if they could top Minelab for deep silver coins. Until then i`ll have to wait and see.

If the T-2 is best only at demos I`ll stick with the Compass 77b for iron infested sites. $799 is too much.

First Texas Products (owner of the Teknetics, BH and Titan brands) sells more detectors than any other USA detector manufacturer. They use mass-marketing and sell via Radio Shack, Wal-Mart, Cabela's, etc. as well as conventinal MD dealers. They don't need to "keep up with the competition."

Hello Denny,

We'll hookup soon for deep turf hunting, I called you yesterday but you're weren't home.

As far as depth, I beleive the T-2 detects deeper than the Explorer and most top end detectors. I have compared them and the T-2 detects deep.

See you soon Denny,
HH, Paul (Ca)

Eddie,

They sold lower end detectors to places like Wal-Mart. They did pretty good. Made lots of money.

But the compitition are the high end manufacturers Like Minelab,Fisher,
Whites and so on. First Texas didn`t have a detector to match up with the big boys until now. I dont see this detector being great as of now I have yet to see some good posts of finds soon I hope.

Do some reading and research on this website and others. You'll find the correct information about the T2 and who engineered and designed it. You would then know that these are not the same people who brought you the old 50 dollar wally world detector. From what I understand, the engineers who designed the T2 needed a platform and a base to build and sell the T2, so they went to Bounty Hunter. I even heard they bought the company and are in the process of changing it from the "lower end" company to a high quality operation. Not sure. This is a whole new detector designed by engineers from "other" high-end detector companies. So far-it is the best detector I have ever owned and I don't buy the ones from wally world!! It is so different from what I'm used to and I can already tell alot of thought has gone into this machine!! We know and you know you want one-so do it! Part with that cash! Then you won't have to try to pick it apart on here........'cause you're not convincing those of us who own one!

Hi Denny,

Pineapple posts his finds on his site. Just click on the link under his posts and you can read and see them. I've got a good hunt coming up soon and am looking forward to posting my finds from those. I'll be using the T2.

T2 at parks....most of my parks are new parks so all I get out of them is clad, and I already have a great clad machine. But we are starting to get alittle moisture and I noticed the watering has started so I may get to hunt with the T2 at some older parks. We'll see. If the ground is too dry to dig a decent plug I'll have to skip it until it is.

If you start at the beginning and read up, you'll get some good information and see some nice finds. unless the poster deleted them for what ever reason.

Hey buddy Denny,

I have to agree with suxbux, allot of T-2 users have posted good finds and even getting an old piece of copper from a pounded site is still in our eyes a good find because it was passed over by other top end detectors. You were there when I pulled out old relics and two old coins when Mark was there from that pounded site you used the Explorer at :) You need to trust me when I say it's a very good detector at separation, For me that's all I need the T-2 for is for relic hunting.

See you in a few days or within the week :)

HH, Paul

Denny, I can attest to the T2 being able to pull silver from anywhere, parks, lakes, beaches, old homesteads, plantation sites and about any other place you can imagine. The one thing we always need to remember is you are not going to find silver especially old silver at just any place. Granted there may be a piece or two here and there but if looking for silver you need to do some research and pick out those places that have greater potential for producing such. I always like to hunt the old defunct places where I know silver was used plentifully in the past and there hasn't been much detector action because of it's location or the fact that many don't know that the place even existed. You specifically mentioned parks and just as any other park the finds you make will be contingent upon how old the park is and how much human traffic it saw in the past. If a new place the finds will be remote at best, if it's a old place that has seen much activity in the past...I will guarantee you the T2 WILL be able to find it if not blow 14in. Why do I say 14in, well that's my deepest find thus far with it...and oh by the way, it was SILVER a MERC to be exact.

I have put in just over 500hrs now with the T2 and can tell you I have found some great finds ranging from IH's, MERC's, Walking Liberty's, Barbers and a few others that I would call keepers, SILVER and GOLD in the form of rings, chains, bracelets, charms and pendants.

If you're reluctant about getting a T2 for fear that it will only find iron I can tell you it will find whatever you want it to once you start to understand the machine and allow it to work at it's fullest potential. You probably made the statement about it find iron because many here has talked about ti' superb capabilities as a relic hunter. Well I am predominately a coin and jewelry shooter and have after many hours finally got to the point where I believe I have a firm handle on this units overall capabilities and will tell you that it is one helluva unit. You can also read the report I made on this unit after I first received it by visiting my website below. But will tell you this too, I am in the process of updating that report since I wrote it at a time when I don't believe I had enough of an understanding about overall capabilities. I have since that report put in many more hours on the unit and have ran many, many more tests to achieve the results I have been getting of late. It's only fair that I now update my report based on more current data that I have been collecting. One last thing I will mention before I close out this post, in my last report you'll see where I tested the unit against a few other top ended machines and even without knowing what I know now about it and how to better achieve the results I want it faired well against all of the units compared against. Would have no problem taking it to a competition hunt knowing it will give any unit there a run for it's money if not beat them hands down. It's not your everyday run of the mill detector, much thought was put into it and though there may be some changes I would like to see made to it those are personal preferences and have nothing to do with the units overall performance. If you haven't decided on purchasing one because of any uncertainties you may have regarding it's capabilities, then all I can say is time is a wasting. In any case, check out my site and the finds I have made thus far with the T2 and enjoy!

about t2 tips, and sell it. Seriously. 500 hours, thats serious experience.

I'll be first in line to purchase it. Guaranteed. If Jeff Foster can write one for the DFX then you should write one for the T-2. Self publishing is the way to go.

Denny, I know you're still skeptical about the T2 and it is your right to be as such. Like you I like to form my own opinions of what is an what isn't. I posted a response earlier to your inquiry about the T2's capabilities and overall performance as it relates to Gold and Silver. Well, today I detected a old homestead site and went with all intentions of finding old silver just so I could post some pics that maybe would show those that feel the T2 is just a relic machine otherwise. My hunt was what I would say successful in that I found two quarters (Standing Liberty and a Barber), four IH's, and four barber dimes. I had my unit disc'd at 70 so thus I didn't score and nickels of any sort. I probably walked right over some but they will keep till my next hunt there. Take a stroll over to my site and check out the finds. I made a post to my Home Page (scroll down to 3-18-06) and posted the pics on My Photos Pages 3 and 4. Hope you'll enjoy them. BTW, you sound like that type of individual I would love to take either my TR or the T2 up on in a competition hunt just to see how they do against your Minelab. I can tell you I have tested the T2 against my Minelab Sovereign and am happy to report it held it's own. It did likewise against the CZ-70, Garrett 1500, Whites DFX, BH TR and a few other of my units. The more you work with it the more you'll find it is a powerful unit. I also wanted to comment on the BH's line of products in that I have always felt they too have their place in the market and I would never rate them as low ended or whatever. I have always looked at who's at the top end of the money stick relative to how good a machine is going to perform. ANY unit is only as good as the user working it. Anyway, I just wanted to invite you to my site to take a look at some of my recent finds with the T2. You'll probably see and read about some there that I have made with my BH Time-Ranger as well. Full Pouches to ya!
