A friend of mine bought this old sword from a old man. It is 40" long and has a trigger, when pulled, 2 knives come out, like in the small drawing. It does not say anything or have any markings on it.What is it? Thanks & HH...BJ

then the rope attached to the trigger hook was pulled to release the points out to "hook" the hay.A pully rope was tied to the big ring and the whole works was hoisted up and through the door at the peak of the barn. Dale

I thought it might be a Whale Harpoon. When you pull the trigger, the handel has to slide down and the bolt will lock into the hole that is in the upper and lower part of the lock. Just a thought. Thanks Dale. BJ

Don't know what happened to my earlier post. Anyway, Dale's 100% right. Check out this link, scrolling all the way down until you get to "Tools mistaken for whaling implements." Pretty close!
Best of luck,
Buckram
