Sword Pommel Help

MA Hole

New member
Hi All,

Dug this sword pommel along with a 1600's spectacle buckle and 1741 1/2 real in northern Mass. Was hoping someone might be able to provide more info about it. Age? Origin? Type of weapon? Who's the man - soldier? pirate?
It measures 41x28mm, is copper alloy and has a small hole where the bow would have attached. I appreciate any help. -Dan

I find those at early sites here in S.C. I think that's what is actually refered to as the finial. They are usually decorated with some sort of Roman motif which is what I think you have there (looks like a Roman Soldier). Great find!
