Sword hilt?

Found this little ?sword hilt? at a site I've been pulling CW lead from. Any ideas if this is some type of CW insignia? It's very thin and fragile, it split as I picked it up, brass maybe. Thanks for any suggestions!

Shouldn't have used the word hilt, it looks the the handle of a sword with a hilt. The little round part at the top might have originally had a pin attatched to it? Just checkin to see if anyone recognized this.

Is it a cavalry hat pin? Just curious since I've never seen one. It is definitely designed to look like a tiffany styler saber. Seems unlikely to find something that looks like that amongst all these relics without it being from the period, just wish I knew more about the hat pins.
