Swingy Thingy

How many out there use the swingy thingy? How do you like it? Does it take alot of pressure off the arm? And lastly does it rub against the control housing or scratch the rod? Thanks.

Hi Harold, I use Doc's Swingy-Thingy everytime I go hunting. It is not uncommon for me now to hunt 8, 10, sometimes 12 hours a day without getting tired. Before the Swingy-Thingy my arm was toast after 3-4 hours. You asked if it takes pressure off the arm...Oh Yes!!! I can literally swing my GPX-5000, E-Trac with 1 finger, your machine will become weightless. It does rub very lightly against the control housing, but that is no big deal...it is a bungee cord and has not caused any damage whatsoever to any of my machines. I highly recommend you call Doc and order one. It is the cheapest $30 you will ever spend. Chris

I just tried it out yesterday on my Etrac. The Etrac is also only a few days old and heavier than what I am used to. For first impressions it takes little getting used to. Maybe after I play with the bungee adjustment it will get a little better. I think they could use more convenient clips on the straps to make disconnecting the detector easier. The clips are a stiff plastic or nylon. I picked up a cheap carabiner last night to hopefully solve that. I think in the long term it will help take the load off the arm and elbow and be worth it.

Thanks for the replys I guess it is time to give it a try. The E-trac is just too awesome of a machine to stop using. I hit a spot yesterday with it and found a 1900 Barber quarter 9'' down on edge! It was in the same hole as a rusted steel bottle cap that I dug first. But I kept getting that 12-46 so I knew a silver coin was in there and more than likely a quarter. Don't get me wrong I also have a CZ-3D that I love, and I can swing all day long. But I like a machine that can tell me the difference between Dime,Quarter, and Half. That is the third Barber quarter I got this year, all with the E-trac!

I use it with my E-Trac and the standard 11" coil. I don't have the best back in the world and I tire quickly. Once I got the Swingy Thingy set up correctly I found I could hunt much longer with out my arm and back getting so tired. I feel it was a good investment. Rick IL
