I went to the excavation area in the older part of town to MD today. The workers were very friendly and also very busy. I had to move on, but I will be be back, baby!

I MD'ed a couple vacated houses that is now state property. The houses have no trespassing on them and some have video surveillance in them. I have been doing this for a year. I think most city officials know me by now. They even had article and a picture of me MD'ing in the paper.
I got a hit on dime and dug 6" . The Ace has great iron rejection. The old pop cap is fused so tight, I could not pry it apart in the field. It looked bad.

I found 10 wheat's the oldest being 1920. Also an other harmonica reed and gas valve. The big square thing is brass and I detected it at 12" with the sniper.

John-

How do you find out about such places? I never see any notices that an area is about to be demolished unless it is huge. I live out in the 'burbs so I never drive by old parts of town either.

I always keep a look out for places like that. When I lived I Fl. I would MD old demo-ed crack houses. I saw one place where they took the sod off the easement. Got a lot of wheat's there. They are always digging up something, somewhere. When you are driving around, for what ever the reason, keep your eyes open. They are everywhere. I like to go for the older things. So, you have to go to the older places. I also have topo maps from the 1920's and check out the old school houses that don't exist today. I'll MD anywhere. I am an opportunist that likes older things.

Wow! Nice surprise with that ring John. An IH nickel too! Those houses sure have been good to you. It seems that no one else detects where you live ???

I have been here a year and I haven't seen anyone else MD'ing in this town, A buddy of mine here sold his xlt last summer because he was more into golf.
It looks like the ring is a class ring. Do you try to return them.
I do when I can. No initials or name. Just sterling silver on the inside. What's funny, it is a ring from a grade school.

I'm kind of like John. Only better looking..LOL no, actually, as I drive around I keep my eyes open for potential new spots. I always drive around in the old part of town. Always looking, always hunting, always finding the goods.
