Swimming lake hunt

Dahlonega, GA. That's where the first gold rush for the county happened. Maybe find some streams to prospect, or one of those mines where you pay them for some dirt, and sluice/pan the stuff to see what you get.

If you "click" on the picture it will take you to the hosting site where I have "notes" on the photo indicating everything you need for a DIY Electrolysis device.

1. You will need a piece of stainless steel. Like many other detectorists, I have found plenty of stainless steel spoons and they seem to work well.

2. A 12 volt power source. I use a power supply for PC speakers. It's an 800mA, DC 12volt and is considered a tad on the powerful side for small finds. 12 volt, 250mA is a minimum. (800mA is common, easy to find, and works well.) Here is an example of a good power source Just a note, it took 10 seconds to clean the silver ring in the above photo.

3. A glass or plastic (recommended) container.

4. Fill it with water mixed with table salt (of no particular ratio)

Connect the (+) to the spoon and the (-) to your target.

A special note about copper wire. Although I use a copper wire to wrap around my target it is not recommended to use as a contact with anything but it does seem to be OK with silver. An alligator clip made of steel (or any non-copper) should be used. It's also an easy way to hold your target! Copper wire used with coins will cause them to change colors. It doesn't wash off either.
