Sweeping a possible skirmish site

I got out yesterday to hunt what I thought was part of a Fremont-era Union campsite. It is a hillside about 1/2 mile away from the main camp. The main camp was occupied by 6,000 soldiers for about a week when General Fremont was in the area. The area was also the scene of skirmishes in 1863 during General Shelby's Raid and again in 1864 during General Price's Missouri campaign. I thought I was going to find a lot of camp remains; buttons, knapsack hooks, and personal items. However, I was surprised to find mostly shot bullets. Was this part of the skirmish or part of the camp? Maybe both?

I ended up with a good handful of relics. Found what appears to be a shot .72-.69 musket bullet, perhaps a large Enfield variety? Also found a wholly deformed shot .58; a shot .69 ball; shot unknown ball; .45 ball; .36 ball; two Colt revolver bullets; two Remington revolver bullets; two unknown revolver bullets; two scabbard sheaths; a scabbard tip; tent grommet; a spent pinfire cartridge, and some miscellaneous stuff. All of the bullets were fired. One of the scabbard sheaths and the tip seem to "fit" together nicely.

The camp lead, rivets, and belt buckle were found at the main camp, not at the hillside. All other finds were at the hillside. That leads me to suspect that the hillside was skirmish rather than camp.

I would like help identifying the two plain-looking revolver bullets. They are the same size and caliber of the Colts and Remingtons, have ramrod marks on their noses, have a flat base, and have 7 lands/grooves which indicates being fired from a Colt navy revolver. I have included a photo. Also, please enjoy the video.

Great finds, Bryan. I enjoy the history of your hunting sites that you include in your posts. I think know something about the troops involved in a battle, skirmish or campsite add a lot to the enjoyment of the finds
